Welcome to a new and improved, simplified and stripped down Random 10!
Me and my journey through life, from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows and all wacky, funny, deep, depressing and interesting points in between. My interests are varied from one end of the spectrum to another. Basically, the disappointing side of mediocre.

Friday and the Random 10 (Surprise Edition)
What's the surprise? That there actually is a random 10 this week. I know it has been awhile, and my work schedule is not very conducive to lots of blogging time. That is something I will be addressing soon. I just never seem to have any time anymore. Me no likey.

Friday and the Random 10 (Housing Anxiety Edition)
One of the reasons I took a camping trip last week was to sort out things in my head about my apartment situation. Those close to me know that a new "management" company has come in and have been basically trying to force this white boy to move out. They have hit me with fake inspections with no documentation and imaginary pictures to "corporate". They finally offered me a six month probationary lease (after being in this complex for over 6+ years). I've decided to screw them over and move out instead...and that leads to all kinds of anxiety for me.
I have a partner in crime who will be my new roommate though, so I won't be doing it alone. However, and I can't state this enough, I FREAKING HATE MOVING.
Irony of ironies: As I typed up this blog post, I got yet another notice on my door about "failing to complete annual recertification" (that's a new one, I did do this way back in February). My lease is now terminated effective May 31st, 2016. Luckily that is the date I was going to tell them I will be out by so no worries there. But, see what I have been dealing with here???
Here's hoping music takes my mind off of it for awhile...

Friday and the Random 10 (100 Years of Roy Edition)
Okay, yeah I missed another Friday last week (and the one before that too), but I have a really good excuse this time. Most of you may know that I work as an engineer on the Walt Disney World Railroad. One of our steam trains, the Roy O. Disney (Walt's brother), reached its 100th birthday! We had a centennial celebration with special pics in the morning (see below), a BBQ cookout, and then a formal get together later that night at the Contemporary Resort. It was a full day and an event I am proud to say I was a part of. That's me standing on the top of the tender in the middle.
But we are here for music, so let's get back to that:

Friday and the Random 10 (Work in Progress Edition)
If you tuned in last week you may have noticed down at the bottom I added an actual podcast. I encountered a few problems with the music from YouTube, but hopefully I have most of that sorted out. Don't judge me too hard, it was a first attempt and definitely still a work in progress. Oh well, here we go again. Second verse, same as the first:

Friday and the Random 10 (Rock & Roll HOF Edition)
So, the new nominees are out for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and most of it just leaves me scratching my head. Rock & Roll?!? You keep using that phrase but I don't think it means what you think it means. Chic? Janet Jackson? Chaka Khan? Let me say that again. Umm, Chaka Kahn? I feel for you honey. I do, but no.
This isn't a music HOF, it's rock & roll! I voted for The Cars, Chicago (yeah I know I give them a hard time but the 70's stuff is legendary), Deep Purple, and of course, the most deserving in the universe and basically how the frack are they not in there already, YES.
P.S. Who the Hell are The J.B.'s? And N.W.A.??? Not on my planet. My world is more like this:

Friday and the Random Ten (Smoke on the Water Edition)
Time for things to get back to normal around here, but I can't believe it is already the middle of September. You know what that mean at Disney right? Yep, Halloween parties! Ugh. The first one was on the 15th. Like three days ago the 15th. Of September. Disney has to milk that cash cow as much as they can. Not a holiday I care much for in the first place. Oh well, let's see if the Random 10 is down with it.

Friday and the Random 10 (End of July Edition)
So today marks the end of July and how do we celebrate the end of a month that ends on a Friday around here? That's right, one song for every day of the month! So today instead of a Random 10 you get a Random 31! This ought to make the picture below hella interesting:
Well, got 25 of them...

Friday and the Random 10 (Bracket Buster Edition)
Spring training is in full bloom down here in central Florida, but the main thing going on is March Madness. Yes, the tournament is in full swing as of yesterday. My bracket is, well, worthless now. As most years I hardly make it past round one. At least I have opening day to look forward to in a few weeks.
Maybe the Random 10 will be full of Final Four teams and possibly a Cinderella or two. But first, as a quick review of last week, you can follow this link, or try and figure out the artists from the cool picture below:

Friday and the Random 10 (Super Bowl Edition)
Well it's the Friday before Super Bowl! I am totally over the whole "deflate-gate" thing. At least, for a day, that talk was replaced with the whole Marshawn Lynch thing. He doesn't want to talk to the media, but he is obligated to, I get it. Don't ask him dumb questions and make him stare at you for three minutes. Oh, too late... (but awesome)
As for the game, I have no idea who to pick. I do not have a dog in this fight, so let's see if the Random 10 somehow chooses a winner for us.

Friday and the Random 10 (Disney Chaos Edition)
Well there is certainly a lot going on right now with Christmas coming up. The tree is finally up at the Magic Kingdom (#crooked) since all the parade filming got done this week. Props to my MayKay. I work every single day after today.
There is also the Survivor finale next week, the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special, and bowl season (#RollTide #SEC) all leading up to New Year's Eve. Disney is the one place you do not, I repeat DO NOT want to go that day. It's chaos I tell you! Chaos!

Friday and the Random 10 (Refurbishment Edition)
So another week has gone by and I finally get to my new days off. I switched from Tues/Wed to Fri/Sat. I also went to all morning shifts in an effort to be able to do as much blogging as I can.
The bad news though is that when I get back on Sunday it is the last day of steam trains for six weeks. Yeah, it's the refurbishment time of the year. Instead, I will be hanging with Mickey and Tinkerbell in the Town Square Theater (TST), while trying to save the whole park from that villain Hades over at Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom (SOMK). Yeah, I'll be using a lot of vacation time in the next six weeks...
But for now, I have a Random 10 to do. Looking back at last week I see that Chicago joined RW on Exile Island. Yeah it's a new thing, inspired obviously by Survivor.
As usual the rules and whatnot are up there ↑ at the top.
Here we go...
8) Chicago/An Hour in the Shower

******************************************************************************
1) Faith No More/Crack Hitler - I have no idea. I'm not really familiar with any of their stuff past their first album.
2) Styx/Witch Wolf - Bet you've never heard of this one. Be thankful. Very early stuff (before Tommy Shaw) from an album that made completely no sense to me. I do plan to cover all their albums on Music Monday when I am done with all the Yes.
3) Dream Theater/Trial of Tears - Like I said before it's a little heavier than I like my prog, but I could get into them I think if I took more time to listen.
4) Styx/I Am the Walrus - Well, my boys go and get themselves banned. Beatles remake obviously, but I think they did a good job of it. Enjoy the video:
5) Camel/Arubaluba - Album cover winner because, hey a train:
6) Michael Jackson/Leave Me Alone - Wow, that's two weeks in a row. Enjoy another messed up video:
Okay I just watched that whole thing.
7) The Moody Blues/The Voyage - Old school, eerie sounding stuff from them. Moody is right. Most of their stuff sounds like a soundtrack from a dream. Ooh, I like the way that sounds.
8) Trans-Siberian Orchestra/Christmas Dreams - Well it is officially fall right?
9) Utada Hikaru/Sanctuary - Wow, yeah. You gamers will know this one. Love this song from Kingdom Hearts II.
10) Ratt/Dangerous But Worth the Risk - Exactly.
******************************************************************************
And there we have it. Chicago tried to sneak back in but the Tarkus took care of them. Banned for another week, but they have some company in Styx (who was originally based in Chicago BTW). RW is now free to join his tribe. The STCS for this week is Tom Petty/Here Comes My Girl. Good ole southern boy there.
As always, stay cool and dry wherever you are, and Roll Tide!

Friday and the Random 10 (Night of Joy Edition)
So tonight is a special event at Disney called Night of Joy. It's a separate ticket event that has Christian music acts performing at various locations throughout the park. It's kinda cool if you're into that. I have enjoyed some of the music in the past.
Anyway, the best part about this event is that the trains do not operate! We are done and off the tracks by 6:00. This gives me and all my train peeps a chance to hang out together since we are all off so early. The party is on. Good times!
And now for the reason we are all here. Looking back at last week I see that RW is already banned for the month of September (shocker). And as usual the rules and whatnot are up there ↑ at the top.
Let's roll the dice!
1) Gentle Giant/Mobile - This sounds like a bad Kansas rip off band. Viggle has no idea what this song is.
2) The Beatles/Dear Prudence - Great song. I loved what they did with it in the movie "Across the Universe".
3) Yes/New State of Mind - Decent song on a flat out awful, forgettable album. Not even worth showing the album cover.
4) Dream Theater/Learning to Live - Maybe a little heavier than I like my prog. I still haven't listened to them much.
5)RW/Sir Galahad AC/DC/Rocking All the Way - Not real familiar with this album, but I'll give it the album cover winner:
6) The Beatles/Wait - Great classic song that unfortunately gets them banned for next week.
7) Cherry Poppin' Daddies/Master and Slave - Swing away daddy-o!
8) King Crimson/Exiles - Always good stuff with them. I can kinda see why Bill Bruford left Yes for them. More experimental types of music.
9) Jimmy Buffett/Cheeseburger in Paradise - Classic Jimmy. Now I'm hungry.
10) Boston/The Star Spangled Banner - Live version that was included on their greatest hits CD. I don't know why.
Well there it is. RW is banned for the month so I just ignored him. Too bad that it was actually from a great album of his. Hey, some of them had to be good right? The Beatles get banned for next week too. Misery loves company I guess. They seem to end up in exile together a lot.
The STCS is Def Leppard/Stay with Me from the album of cover songs they did. Meh.

Friday and the Random 10 (Tragic Kingdom Edition)
August is finally in full bloom and I'm not sure what I am most excited about: Doctor Who in 16 days(!) or Alabama football in 23(!!). At least they won't be on at the same time so I won't be faced with a difficult dilemma like the whole Capt Jack/Tony Stark debate (still time to vote...just saying...).
Anywayz, let's focus on the here and now and get down to the random 10. Last week shows us how persistent some bands can be, with The Moody Blues still trying to sneak past the Tarkus to no avail. Hopefully they can stay away for just one week and make themselves eligible again. Here's hoping.
Time to spin the wheel of fate...
1) Dream Theater/Only a Matter of Time - My brother Scott has been on me for a long time to listen to these guys. I finally relented and they show up right away. You know what that gets:
3) Def Leppard/Stagefright - Oh yeah we're rocking now.

2) No Doubt/Happy Now? - Gwen Stefani. Yes please. Album cover winner:
4) Dennis DeYoung/Pilate's Dream - DDY did a Broadway album with this song from Jesus Christ Superstar. I give him a lot of crap but he has an amazing voice.
5) Van Halen/Little Guitars (intro) - Eddie plays a mean acoustic guitar too.
6) Nektar/You're Alone - Thanks for pointing that out guys. Oh and Viggle has no clue what song this is.
7) The Nice/Rondo (69) - This is Keith Emerson's band before he was in Emerson Lake & Palmer. Great experimental stuff.
8) Return to Forever/Celebration Suite Pt.1 - Here's more of that late 60's/early 70's jazz fusion rock stuff.
9) Bronz/Harder Than Diamond - Viggle has no idea from this one hit wonder. Once again, this wasn't the hit. You know what, time to bring the Cybermen Award back:
10) Jon Anderson/Hurry Home (Song for the Pleiades) - This was JonJon's solo album (with members of Toto) that he did right before the ABWH album. I see some elements here that he used later.
And there we have it. I'm thinking of making a "Viggle rule" that if it cannot be identified then it gets deleted. I'm not sure about that though. I'll have to think on that some more.
The STCS song for this week is Trans-Siberian Orchestra/The Safest Way into Tomorrow. Let us rejoice for The Moody Blues have finally been set free! Also, no one got banned this week either. Awesome.
As always stay cool and dry central Florida, and Roll Tide!
I'm gonna let Jon play us out.
