Friday and the Random 10 (Original Content Edition)
You know, on my blog here I started doing a lot of what I called "fillers" (This Day in Music/Disney History) just to fill in the gaps between posts. People seem to like them so that's okay, but they seem to be overtaking my blog a bit. I mean it seems that's all I post. I know work doesn't leave me much time to write "original" posts, but I do notice the trend and hope to add more varied content in the future.
That being said, one of the mainstays around here is obviously the Random Ten. Without further delay, let's get right into that!

Friday and the Random Ten (Smoke on the Water Edition)
Time for things to get back to normal around here, but I can't believe it is already the middle of September. You know what that mean at Disney right? Yep, Halloween parties! Ugh. The first one was on the 15th. Like three days ago the 15th. Of September. Disney has to milk that cash cow as much as they can. Not a holiday I care much for in the first place. Oh well, let's see if the Random 10 is down with it.

Friday and the Random 10 (Walk This Way Edition)
So last week I started messing with the format again and I think I am going to stick with it for awhile. I have also been singing Xanadu all week but that's neither here nor there. So below you will see only album covers from this week's Random 10.

Friday and the Random 10 (Time Stand Still Edition)
Yeah, I know I missed a week. You know how some people say "real life intrudes"? Yeah, that was me. I know my blog has been full of Disney and music history lately. Those we meant to fill in the dead spots between regular posts, but they seem to have taken over somewhat. Things will even out more soon (I hope!) The last Top 10 list I did was actually full of substance and intelligence. No one got sent to Exile Island for the third week in a row so anyone is fair game again. Let's see how it turns out!

Friday and the Random 10 (So Long Mickey Mouse Edition)
So another week has come and gone and it's basically the same routine here everyday: work with a possibility of getting rained on. Such is the Disney life. Glamorous I know.
Well as constant as a 1:15 central Florida thunderstorm is Friday's Random 10. Looking back at last week I see that no one got the ban so it's all fair game this week. As usual the rules and whatnot are up there ↑ at the top.
Let's bring the thunder!
1) The Beatles/Revolution 1 - Makes me want to buy some Nike's. Some of y'all remember.
2) Jackson Browne/Before the Deluge - How appropriate.
3) Toto/I Will Remember - And somehow I don't remember this song at all.
4) Pink Floyd/In The Flesh - Some PF I can tolerate. Classic album cover winner:
5) The Moody Blues/Talking Out of Turn - One of my favorite "personal" songs that have deep meaning to me. I love everything about this song.
6) Asia/Heroine - This was my "divorce" album, however this was one of my least favorite songs from Phoenix.
7) Return to Forever/Song Long Mickey Mouse - Ummm, what? Instrumental jazzy piece with no lyrics. Dang I was real curious.
8) Bronz/The Cold Truth - One hit wonders. This wasn't it.
9) Rachmaninoff/Piano Concerto #1 - Now all I need is a fire and glass of wine. Well, and a lady. That would help.
10) Aerosmith/Come Together - From that Sgt. Pepper's movie again. Yeah it had Aerosmith. Yeah it's awesome like that.
Well there we go for another week. I'm sure I got a lot of Disney peeps to read this because of the title. No I'm not going anywhere (for now). No one gets banned for next week which is always cool. That Tarkus hasn't been around in awhile. The STCS is Saga/The Flyer. Canada represents!

Friday and the Random 10 (Friday the 13th Edition)
Yeah I know it's been a few weeks since I have rolled one of these out, but you know how the holidays go (especially when you work for the Mouse). And don't worry, the weekly tradition will continue into 2014 as well, plus a few other things I have up my sleeve.
Enough of that Von, get down to the music!

Friday and the Random 10
Never fear, the Random 10 is here! Not as early as I would have liked today, but hey life happens. The rules are still over there to the right → along with other information. But enough wasting time. Let's get down to it!
1) King Crimson/Book of Saturday - Nice mellow way to start from Lark's Tongue in Aspic.
2) Jon Anderson/Top of the World (The Glass Bead Game) - This is actually one of the better songs from his solo album City of Angels which has a lot of the musicians from Toto.
3) Steve Howe/Solar Winds II - from his Homebrew 4 album which is full of all his demo tracks and things that evolved into many, many Yes songs.
4) Guns N' Roses/Live and Let Die - Yeah. Just yeah.
5) Yes/America - Yet another live version of this song. Must be the short version at only 16:18. I have really got to go in and clean some of this stuff out.
6) Styx/Castle Walls - DDY and the boys at their best in the 70's. Instant album cover winner.
7) Def Leppard/Lady Strange - Awesome early stuff from them.
8) Aerosmith/Come Together - From the Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band movie soundtrack. Say what you want, but this is one of my guilty pleasures. I love this movie. It ranks right up there with Xanadu. I'm not ashamed.
9) Red Hot Chili Peppers/Good Time Boys - I still like their sound.
10) Britney Spears/Oops, I Did It Again - Well, f*ck! I had just got my Man Card™ back...
Let's face it, I'm not recovering from that last one. Maybe the STCS will cancel it out? Drumroll please: Hall & Oates/Wait For Me. Crap (but welcome to the countdown by the way). Things started out so well. I get to hang my head in shame over this one for a whole week. I can hear the comments now.

Friday and the Random 10
This week, before I even start the randomness, I'm going to give a shout out to a song. You see, I open up media player on my computer and click "music" so it lists every song by artist alphabetically. Then when I right click to "play all" with the shuffle on I start with the same song at the top of the list every week. This means that this song will never show up in the Random 10. So here's to you Abba/Dancing Queen for getting us started, and for leading the way to...
1) Michael Jackson/State of Shock - Featuring Mick Jagger. Not a bad song, but kind of funny to hear them bantering back and forth.
2) Yes/Turn of the Century - One of the most beautiful and romantic songs they have even done. Album cover winner here, and it's not Roger Dean but Storm Thorgerson, who passed away this week so it's only fitting.
3) The Beatles/Please Please Me - Sounds like somebody was in a one sided relationship.
4) Jethro Tull/Up To Me - from the Aqualung album and a first time for them. So they get a "Welcome to the party pal!" award.
5) The Moody Blues/Foolish Love - Never heard this one but it sounds like from when they were popular again slightly in the late 80's/early 90's.
6) Pink Floyd/A Great Day for Freedom - You know of my not so love for PF. This song does nothing to improve my opinion of them.
7) Billy Joel/Leningrad - Is there anything he does that isn't great?
8) Kansas/Mysteries and Mayhem - Now this is some classic stuff probably no one has heard of unless you're really into Kansas. Great older stuff.
9) Aerosmith/Falling in Love (Is Hard on the Knees) - Live version of the good Aerosmith before everything was a long whiny song that all sounded the same.
10) Pink Floyd/Sheep - Again? Ugh. As musicians I can appreciate their sound though.
Well there we go again, another week in the books. I noticed nothing has shown up yet from all the new stuff I added recently. Oh well, the STCS for this week is The Beatles/Here Comes The Sun. Nice.

Friday and the Random 10 (Boston Manhunt Edition)
So as I rolled out of bed hung over this morning I had no idea of what was going on in Boston. Apparently one man down, one to go as I type this. So to keep our minds on more positive things for now, let's play with the gods of randomness. The rules are over there as a link to your right, along with any other awards and trivia. Let's roll!
1) Led Zeppelin/Whole Lotta Love - Good stuff, but I'm not as enamored with them as most people are. Album cover winner too.
2) Aerosmith/Dream On - Dang, two classics right out of the box. And aren't they from Boston?
3) Kansas/End of the Age - Nice sounding song from an album no one ever listened to, Drastic Measures.
4) Asia/Ride Easy - Demo for their second album that didn't make the cut but appears on Anthologia.
5) Rick Wakeman/The Spider Crab - RW! Apparently this is his album about things that you would find on a beach.
6) Styx/Heavy Metal Poisoning - Sung by JY and one of the more interesting songs on the Kilroy Was Here album things that brought us Mr. Roboto. Chills...
7) Yes/America - I recently did a post about this song. This is some random live version though. I've got to go clear out all these live versions of stuff one day.
8) Journey/Look Into the Future - Some great early Journey before SP. This is that early 70's jazz fusion kind of rock that I spoke about before. I love the first few Journey albums.
9) Rush/Need Some Love - From their debut album before they got all progressive. Not that I'm complaining.
10) AC/DC/Skies on Fire - Anything by them is awesome.
Take a look at the bands that popped up this week. All of them legends in one way or the other (yes, even RW). No riff raff in this countdown. Wait, what about the STCS? Here goes: Jon & Vangelis/Polonaise. Well Jon was in Yes and Vangelis did that Chariots of Fire thing so I'll let them slide. Wimpy song though.

Friday and the Random 10
Yeah yeah, I know it's been awhile. Life has kept me busy with so many things going on lately: Bestie leaving, websites, movie screenplays, work and on and on and on. Anyway, time to make a big splash again and see what the gods of randomness have in store for me today. On with da show!
1) Red Hot Chili Peppers/Parallel Universe - funky groove as always
2) Rick Wakeman/Lost at Sea - RW made an album about ocean wrecks??? Oh wait, this is from Sea Airs...close enough
3) Billy Joel/Big Shot - when Mr William Joel ruled the world
4) Styx/Man in the Wilderness - classic gem from TS and a classic cover

5) Led Zeppelin/Candy Store Rock - I still dont get them. I mean the when they were great they were great but other than I that I hear alot of "baby baby oh yeah" music
6) The Beatles/I Want to Tell You - this is actually a song I'm not familiar with...sounds like it's right before they went all 60's on everyone
7) Red Hot Chili Peppers/One Hot Minute - this one isnt so funky but twice in one day? Maybe I'm supposed to eat Taco Bell or something today
8) Aerosmith/Back in the Saddle - back before all their songs sounded the same
9) Styx/The Best of Times - /****** <~~~ the cat just typed that...anyway this is the live version from Caught in the Act
10) ABBA/Ring Ring - whuh? Okay, I get to type DELETE again...bye bye from my library
Well that was a chore to finish with my new kitten trying to walk all over the keyboard after trying to climb up my leg (i'm in shorts). The Spinal Tap Commemorative Song this week is Led Zeppelin/Sick Again...ugh. Until next time! Play us out Billy!

Bamageddon and the Random 10
I didn't get time to post this yesterday so i'm going to take care of it today. And today is a special day: Alabama vs LSU, #1 vs #2, good vs evil, etc. Some are calling today a game for the ages. I am calling it Bama-geddon <deep scary echoing voice>.
So anyway, I'm calling on the football gods and the gods of chance and randomness to give me a killer awesome Top 10 to take me into tonite's clash. Bring it on!
1) Daft Punk/Victory - hell yeah, is that an omen? From the Tron soundtrack.
2) Porcupine Tree/Strip the Soul - that's what Bama will do to the LSU players
3) Red Hot Chili Peppers/I Could Have Lied - nice mellow song
4) Jon Anderson/Everybody Loves You - but I love you just a little bit more...
5) Journey/In My lonely Feeling/Conversations - talk about some great old Journey! Gonna share this one:
6) Cyndi Lauper/I Drove All Night - for such a quirky person she certainly has an amazing voice
7) Third Day/I've Always Loved You - for Cat, not that she reads this or cares the way I do
8) Chicago/Loneliness is Just a Word - great early Chicago (mandatory album cover below)
9) Aerosmith/Back in the Saddle - back to #1 where we belong!
10) The Rolling Stones/Miss You - wow, alot of songs about missing, loving and being lonely but that conversation is for another time...I'll stick to the VICTORY and left Daft Punk play us out...

Forever seems so distant
Much further than today
You turn around and in an instant
You find that you are just as far from yesterday
The day it feels like winter
The night it feels like stone
You turn around and you remember
When you're surrounded
You can still feel so alone
8) Chicago/Skin Tight - classic jazzy Chicago before the wimpy years
9) Chicago/Caravan - from a big bang cd they made after the 80's that didnt actually suck

Friday and the Random 10
Here we go again. Same rules as before: put your Ipod or mp3 player or media player on random and list the first 10 songs that pop up, no matter how embarrassing. I award prizes for certain categories just to make it pretty. And away we go...
1) ELO/Hold on Tight - oh yeah baby! Great way to start! And an album cover winner already:

3) ELO/The Bouncer - dont really know this song...
4) Peter Frampton & The Bee Gees/Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight - from the Sgt Peppers movie soundtrack. This is such a deep song on many levels. How many hurts do we have that we will carry with us for a long time?

6) Trans-Siberian Orchestra/Christmas Bells, Carousels, and Time - haunting little instrumental...
7) Rush/Prime Mover - good song from Hold Your Fire
8) Chris Squire/You By My Side - from his solo album Fish Out of Water...wow, thats 2 members of YES's solo albums so far....if there is any balance to the universe there has got to be some RW in the next 2 songs
9) Aerosmith/Same Old Song and Dance - hey, they were in the Sgt Pepper's movie...lol
10) Dennis DeYoung/Save Me - no RW but we get DDY from Styx instead...oh well...

Friday and the Random 10
Well here we go again! Another week gone by and time for another popular mostly ignored Random Top 10 blog post. Dosnt matter to me...I like doing them. Gonna skip the rules and get right into it!
1) AC/DC/Beating Around the Bush - I'm thinking I should start every morning with some AC/DC...what a great way to start the day and get you going!
2) The Beatles/Yellow Submarine - wow, this is gonna be stuck in my head all day now...maybe something will come along and knock it out...but at least it gives me the album cover winner
3) Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers/I Won't Back Down - good ole southern boy
4) Red Hot Chili Peppers/My Friends - ok, now I'm kinda getting tired of them since they show up so much
5) Aerosmith/Livin on the Edge - this is the live version but who cares, you get a video
6) Camel/Wait -this is a cool jazzy kinda band
7) Esquire/To The Rescue - great voice but i think she way over-sings sometimes...bonus video
8) Rick Wakeman/The Colossus of Rhodes - now my week is complete...lol, old joke but RW shows up again!
9) Alabama/Is the Magic Still There? - the only country I own and only because of their name
10) Third Day/Thief - still building up my collection of Christian music...this is an awesome song! New category for today: lyrics winner.
I am a thief, I am a murderer, walking up this lonely hill.
What have I done? I don't remember. No one knows just how I feel;
And I know that my time is coming soon.
It's been so long, oh, such a long time, since I've lived with peace and rest.
Now I am here, in my destination, I guess things work for the best;
And I know that my time is coming soon.
Who is this man? This man beside me, That they call the King of the Jews.
No, they don't believe, that He's the Messiah, But, somehow I know that it's true.
They laugh at Him in mockery, They beat Him till he bleeds,
They nail Him to the rugged cross, And they raise Him, yeah, they raise Him up next to me.
My time has come, and I'm slowly fading, But I deserve what I receive.
Jesus, when You are in Your kingdom, Could You please, please remember me.
Well He looks at me still holding on, And the tears fall from His eyes,
And He says I tell the truth, Today, yeah, you will live with Me in paradise, woah yeah.
And I know that my time, yes my time, is coming soon, woah yeah.
And I know that my time, yes my time, is coming soon, woah yeah, yeah
And I know that paradise, paradise is coming soon.

10) Third Day/Thief - still building up my collection of Christian music...this is an awesome song! New category for today: lyrics winner.
I am a thief, I am a murderer, walking up this lonely hill.
What have I done? I don't remember. No one knows just how I feel;
And I know that my time is coming soon.
It's been so long, oh, such a long time, since I've lived with peace and rest.
Now I am here, in my destination, I guess things work for the best;
