You know, I just don't get it. I know I am a big Bama homer, but one guy drafted in the first round? And not even a defensive player? Am I the only one that actually watched football this past season? I saw team after team "reaching" for player after player, including the Ole Mess players with drug/assault problems. Well, looks like this will be the last Random 10 for October. Halloween is tomorrow night (dangit) so I was one day off from doing a spooktacular countdown. At least when I get back to work it will be the end of the MNSS parties. But hey, Christmas is right around the corner now and those parties start up November 8th! Geez.

Well after surviving yet another Disney 24 hour fiasco celebration, it is time to forge ahead and get back on track. Last week I just gave you a plain Top 24 list so there's no pic of albums covers to show for this week. Also, there is no Exile Island. Friday and the Random 10 (24 Hour Disney Day Edition)

And here we go again. It's the Friday before Memorial Day so what does Disney go and do to us again? Yep, it's that deal where we stay open for a whole 24 hours. I have a 13 hour shift, but at least I am not part of the overnight crew. So to honor all us hard working cast members I am going to copy what I did in this countdown from the previous over-nighter and do a Top 24 list, instead of top 10. Yeah it's one of those special event type things. Next week will return to normal (or for what passes for normal around here).

You know, sometimes I am right about things. In this Random 10 back in January, I first mentioned "Deflate-Gate" and how the NFL wasn't going to shut up about it. It was still being picked apart in the Super Bowl edition, and now that the penalties have been handed down four months later in May (4 game suspension, fines, loss of draft picks) you would think people have lost their minds. The appeal is going to get real ugly people, so stay tuned for that.

Apparently the big buzz on the internet though is about that damn dress on the right. Umm, it is totally white and gold and I am not sorry for seeing it that way. Maybe I am just more perceptive than others. I'm sticking with that. Black and blue? I just don't get it.

In other news, February is winding down. Oh man, if only today was the 28th then I could do an end of the month extravaganza. But alas no, we are one day short of that so it's just a basic Random 10. However, we do have some exiles on the island this time so the Tarkus may be lurking around somewhere...

Okay so I have been trying to decide what I wanted to do special for the Halloween version of the Random 10. My first thought was to expand it to thirteen for all the triskaidecaphobics out there. Then I realized that I reserve that for the Friday the 13th's that roll around occasionally. 

My only other option (since it is the last day of October) was to just go ahead and hit everyone with 31 songs. Consider it a giant grab bag of candy. I am sure everyone will find something that they like.

In my long search for a sponsor for my blog (it's been about a week) I figured maybe I would give Viggle some love since I talk about them and use the app all the time. I have been pretty diligent about using it lately and actually was able to get another t-shirt. Assuming it fits me (they had no XXXL), I will post a pic when it comes in. And the ladies all swoon...

So if you take a look back at last week I was trying to come up with an idea for Exile Island. I decided on the old Foursquare (now Swarm) idea of having a "mayor" by the number of times sent out. The current mayor is Chicago, even though they escaped last week. So from now on, everyone will see who is exiled, and for how many times. Like this:

2) Rick Wakeman/The Peregrine Falcon - I guess this is his album about birds. Or things that fly. Still, RW on the piano is magic

3) Vanessa Carlton/More Than This - I have no shame here. I like her. Also, more piano.

4) Joan Jett & The Blackhearts/You Don't Know What You Got - Kick ass.

5) Faith No More/Just a Man - This is from one of their other albums and a song I have never heard before. It doesn't suck.

6) Jimmy Buffett/Distantly in Love - Every time he shows up I get worried that Media Player is messing up again. He shows up like five times when that happens.

7) Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers/American Girl - Good ole southern boy. You know, him and Joan Jett have awesome name for their backup bands. They should get together. They could do a duet and be backed up by the BlackHeartbreakers. Yeah.

8) Camel/Mother Road - I still like these guys. Don't know a thing about them other than that they're smooth.

9) Asia/Russian Dolls - This is the original Asia (minus Howe) back again . Album cover winner obviously, because Roger Dean:

10) Dennis DeYoung/Won't Go Wasted - The man can sing. I'll give him that. I think he has too much Broadway in him now to ever go back to Styx.

And there we have it. That was a pretty good mix of songs. I added several 70's and 80's compilation CD's to my inventory so I was expecting to hear some truly random (and unknown) stuff. Maybe next time.

The STCS for this week is Pink Floyd/Don't Leave Me Now. You know what that means? The Beatles are finally free! Not only that, no one got exiled. The island can be taken over and overgrown by nature again.

Friday and the Random 10 (Refurbishment Edition)

So another week has gone by and I finally get to my new days off. I switched from Tues/Wed to Fri/Sat. I also went to all morning shifts in an effort to be able to do as much blogging as I can. 

The bad news though is that when I get back on Sunday it is the last day of steam trains for six weeks. Yeah, it's the refurbishment time of the year. Instead, I will be hanging with Mickey and Tinkerbell in the Town Square Theater (TST), while trying to save the whole park from that villain Hades over at Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom (SOMK). Yeah, I'll be using a lot of vacation time in the next six weeks...

But for now, I have a Random 10 to do. Looking back at last week I see that Chicago joined RW on Exile Island. Yeah it's a new thing, inspired obviously by Survivor.

2) Styx/Witch Wolf - Bet you've never heard of this one. Be thankful. Very early stuff (before Tommy Shaw) from an album that made completely no sense to me. I do plan to cover all their albums on Music Monday when I am done with all the Yes.

3) Dream Theater/Trial of Tears - Like I said before it's a little heavier than I like my prog, but I could get into them I think if I took more time to listen.

4) Styx/I Am the Walrus - Well, my boys go and get themselves banned. Beatles remake obviously, but I think they did a good job of it. Enjoy the video:

7) The Moody Blues/The Voyage - Old school, eerie sounding stuff from them. Moody is right. Most of their stuff sounds like a soundtrack from a dream. Ooh, I like the way that sounds.
