Friday and the Random 10 (154 Games Edition)

So there is some talk that is gaining steam that the MLB season might be reduced back down to 154 games like it used to be (it's 162 now). As a baseball purist I do not like changes made to the game. I still think inter-league play takes the luster of the World Series, and the DH is an abomination. However, in this case, it really doesn't bother me that much. Might even make the pennant races more exciting. Either way, baseball needs to do something to become more popular again.

Speaking of popular (nice segue-way Von), how about that Random Ten last week? You can take a quick review by following this link, or trying to figure out the artists from the cool picture below:

As always the rules and whatnot are up there ↑ at the top next to the Home tab.

Exile Island is free and clear of castaways. When you break the rules by showing up more than once in a countdown you get exiled. This stops also you from appearing in the countdown below. Everyone is free to participate this week.

********************************************************************************

1) Jon Anderson/That Crazy Wind (Earth Mother Earth) - This is from one of his solo albums obviously. In the truest hippie fashion, he recorded this album acoustically outdoors where he could record the sounds of nature and lots of birds singing.

2) Van Halen/Dreams (5150) - It is songs like this that makes me like the Hagar years over the DLR years. Sammy was a much better songwriter.

3) Chicago/Why Can't We (Chicago XXX)-  Man they just keep trying with this stuff. That was 13 albums ago guys! Oh wait, a duet? Nope, still feel the same way. This is dreadful. Also, be very careful when you type "Chicago XXX" into Google. You get slightly more than an album cover image.

4) Xandria/Save My Life (Salome: The Seventh Veil) - Another one of those new bands I am trying out. And I mean "new" to me when I say that. Almost death metal mixed with opera and a female lead singer. I can dig that.

5) Steve Howe/Distant Seas (Homebrew 4) - You know you have a lot of demos of stuff you did at home when you can cover four albums with the material. Wait, there's a fifth one? Wow. He's one busy man, even at his age (he is 147).

6) The Black Eyed Peas/The Apl Song (Elephunk) - Once again showing my funky side. Once again, that's a side of me you don't want to see.

7) Yes/Rhythm of Love (Dance to the Rhythm Mix) (Big Generator) - This is that whole time period where they would put out a dance mix version of one of their hits. And you know what? I don't hate it.

8) The Beatles/Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band) - You may have heard of this song and album.

9) Living Colour/Cult of Personality (Vivid) - Maybe one of the most bad-ass tunes ever to grace to Random 10. I thought these guys were going to be HUGE with a capital HUGE! But alas it was the late 80's/early 90's. This is still one of my jam songs.

10) Journey/I Can See It In Your Eyes (Trial by Fire) - I was going to say the replacement singer sounds just like Steve Perry until I checked and realized it was him all along. This album was just meh to me.

The STCS for this week goes to the The Commodores/Sail On (The Very Best of the Commodores). The pride of Tuskegee, Alabama. That Lionel Richie guy might do something big one day. And that makes sure that no one gets sent to Exile Island this week, so for now it still remains vacant.

As always stay warm/cool and comfy wherever you are. Go Braves and Roll Tide!

No doubt in my mind at all:

You gave me fortune
You gave me fame
You gave me power in your God's name
I'm every person you need to be
I'm the cult of personality
