Me and my journey through life, from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows and all wacky, funny, deep, depressing and interesting points in between. My interests are varied from one end of the spectrum to another. Basically, the disappointing side of mediocre.
Well after surviving yet another Disney 24 hour fiasco celebration, it is time to forge ahead and get back on track. Last week I just gave you a plain Top 24 list so there's no pic of albums covers to show for this week. Also, there is no Exile Island. However if you would like a pic of my current inspiration, here ya go:
As usual the rules and whatnot are up there ↑ next to the home tab.
And now for some music!
1) Extreme/Politicalamity (III Sides to Every Story) - Man, I cannot tell you enough what a fantastic album this is! It is definitely on my "must own" list. There are three sides to every story: yours, mine, and the truth.
2) Apollo 440/Love is Evil (The Future's What It Used to Be) - Wow, these guys are great too. These are my funky white boy tunes. Yeah.
3) Faith No More/What a Day (King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime) - Wow I am just getting down with my bad self this week. Now I just know the next song is going to be ABBA or some teen sensation to ruin my image.
4) Anathema/You're Not Alone (Distant Satellites) - There is just no stopping me this week! This is one of those "newer" bands that I have found and am getting into. Cool stuff.
5) Journey/Ritual (Eclipse) - Wait, is this Steve Perry or not? I'm voting no. And a quick check of wikipedia shows I am right. this gets a "meh" from me.
6) Yes/I Would Have Waited Forever (In a Word, Disk 4) - This is from yet another box set from them. This is the extended version of the song where Steve Howe plays it out at the end as opposed to it being edited out. That's worth plopping down that extra money right?
7) Yes/Soon (Single Edit) (Relayer) - Wow, speaking of edits, this is the single edit from a much larger composition "Gates of Delirium". And yeah I know it gets them banned next week, but hey, Roger Dean artwork!
8) Apollo 440/Lost in Space (Theme) (Gettin' High on Your Own Supply) - First of all, I loved this movie. Thought it was great. This theme song was actually how I found this band. They get banned next week too, but I'm still funky.
9) Steely Dan/Reelin in the Years (A Decade of Steely Dan) - I thought this was their first time to the party but I was wrong. Great song by a great sounding jazzy band. I can dig'm.
10) Rush/Between the Wheels (Grace Under Pressure) - I was certain this would be the song that would ruin the countdown, but you cannot go wrong with Rush. Nope, not at all.
The STCS for this week goes to the Genesis/Second Home By the Sea (Genesis). Oh man, 1980's Genesis was the best. They were cool in a weird way, and weird in a cool way. Hard to pull that off. And hey, Phil Collins. As far as the countdown goes we do have Yes and Apollo 440 getting sent to Exile Island next week. Sorry but dems da rules. Still cool. Still funky.
