Friday and the Random 10 (Super Bowl Edition)

Well it's the Friday before Super Bowl! I am totally over the whole "deflate-gate" thing. At least, for a day, that talk was replaced with the whole Marshawn Lynch thing. He doesn't want to talk to the media, but he is obligated to, I get it. Don't ask him dumb questions and make him stare at you for three minutes. Oh, too late... (but awesome)

As for the game, I have no idea who to pick. I do not have a dog in this fight, so let's see if the Random 10 somehow chooses a winner for us.

As a quick review of last week, you can follow this link, or check out the cool picture below:

As always the rules and whatnot are up there ↑ at the top next to the Home tab.

Exile Island has a vacancy!

********************************************************************************

1) Styx/I Don't Need No Doctor - This is from their "Big Bang Theory" album which contains remakes of other people's songs. Lawrence Gowan sings this one originally done by Humble Pie.

2) Def Leppard/Excitable - This album (Hysteria) has seven (7!) hit songs. Guess which was not one of them? Yep, this one.

3) Led Zeppelin/That's the Way - I do have more artists than this I promise! It seems a lot of this is repeating itself. We had this album last week as well. I didn't like it then either.

4) Tommy Shaw/Girls with Guns - From his debut solo album and also the first single from it. This was a rough time for me because my favorite band seemed to be breaking up.

5) Xandria/Save My Life - Okay, this is so new that even I haven't listened to it yet. I added this to my inventory last night. I heard one song and it was a mix of metal and almost opera. Sounded different so I thought I would give it a try.

6) Chicago/Harry Truman - Not ashamed of this one because this is back when Chicago was still good, and relevant. They were still definitely very jazz oriented at this time.

7) Rick Wakeman/Never is a Long Long Time - See, now this is where I start to feel very uneasy about things. This is another album that showed up last week as well. Other than that, this is probably my favorite song off the whole album, sung by none other than Trevor Rabin. His old bandmate in Yes.

8) Bronz/Heat of the Night - This is one of those 80's one hit wonders. This song wasn't the hit. However the lead singer is Max Bacon who eventually teamed up with Steve Howe (Yes) and Steve Hackett (Genesis) to form the short lived band GTR. They were also basically a one hit wonder.

9) Big Bad Voodoo Daddy/Next Week, Sometime - I am starting to wonder why I have some of the music I do. This sounds like something from Vaudeville.

10) Dream Theater/A Change of Seasons - Apparently this is the big one I am supposed to listen to (according to my brother). I still haven't spent much time absorbing them yet.

Well we have made it this far with no exiles, but I feel this was no help at all in picking a Super Bowl winner. Maybe the STCS will shed some light on this quandary:

The STCS for this week is Jimmy Buffett/He Went to Paris. Well that was no help at all. And he showed up last week too. Ugh. No exiles again for next week so that's a bonus.

As always stay warm and comfy wherever you are, and Roll Tide!

I'll just randomly guess: New England 33, Seattle 30.

Play us out Tommy!

This video is all done in one shot. No edits. Cool.
