This Day in Music History: Bon Jovi/Slippery When Wet (08/18)

Slippery When Wet is the third studio album by American rock band Bon Jovi, released on this day in 1986. The album spent eight weeks at #1 on the U.S. Billboard album chart and was named by Billboard as the top-selling album of 1987. Slippery When Wet is the band's best-selling album to date, with a certification of 12× Platinum and reportedly over 25 million copies sold worldwide.

Slippery When Wet was an instant commercial success. The album features songs that are today considered Bon Jovi's most well-known tracks, such as "You Give Love a Bad Name" (#1), "Livin' on a Prayer" (#1) and "Wanted Dead or Alive" (#7). The album also featured "Never Say Goodbye" which hit #28.

Well it's about time! College football returns this weekend (actually started last night) and I know millions of people are happy about it. NFL? Whatever. Take you deflated balls and go home. My beloved #3 Alabama Crimson Tide opens up tomorrow night with #20 Wisconsin. Gonna be a slobberknocker! How bout some music to get us fired up? If you're not fired up already something is wrong with you...

Well we have finally reached that part of the year in Florida where there's a chance of rain or thunderstorms everyday (typically around 1:15 like clockwork). I know most of the country hasn't even hit spring yet, but down here we have been in almost summer conditions (i.e. humid and hot) for several weeks now. Our winter just never happened and it sucks. Game of Thrones was wrong. Winter isn't coming. Boo.

Well here we go for yet another week of randomness. I'm still feeling out the new format to see if I like it or not. I'm still worried about the time it takes, but as long as I can keep my Friday's off I should be okay. Yay for off days!

Friday and the Random 10

Well it's been a whole week since Halloween so you know what that means: Disney has gone into full Christmas mode. Thanksgiving? Never heard of it. The only turkeys around here are some of the songs that show up on the countdown. Like for instance, DDY went and got himself banned last week and Chicago got Tarkus'd three different times. This week? Hard to say, but we will see how it goes. Oh, and pass the mashed potatoes...
