Friday and the Random 10 (Opening Day Edition)

Enough basketball already! I mean other than waiting for Kentucky to win it all like everyone thinks they will, and Alabama trying to find a new coach, I am all hooped out. But hold on, help is on the way! (cue The Little River Band) Baseball opening day is Sunday! Yeah, the Braves are going to suck, but at least they are playing a game outside. Then again, I am probably the only person that actually likes baseball anyway.

But before we fill out those lineup cards and sit down with some dogs and a beer, lets take a quick review of last week by following this link, or trying to figure out the artists from the cool picture below:

As always the rules and whatnot are up there ↑ at the top next to the Home tab.

The Beatles just can't seem to get off Exile Island no matter what they do. They have even worked themselves up to co-Mayor status. Being on Exile Island means they were bad last week and cannot appear in the countdown below.

********************************************************************************

1) Alan Menken/The Big Olive (Disney's Hercules soundtrack) - So this is how we are starting huh? I take a day off from work and still can't get away from it. At least I can guarantee you that you will never see anything from the Frozen soundtrack. It makes cast members want to puke off a balcony when we hear any of that. #NoReallyLetItGo

2) Rick Wakeman/Warmongers (The Private Collection) - Another forgettable instrumental from RW. I guess he couldn't stand The Beatles encroaching on his mayor status. Let's see if he shows up again to reclaim it all to himself. Viggle once again has no idea what this song is. #MeEither

3) Jon Anderson/Faithfully (The More You Know)- Back to back Yes band-mates. This album was kind of funky and I liked it. It was different sounding for him. I might spend some more time listening to this one.

4) Chicago/Goody Goody (Night and Day) - You know, when I found out Chicago was doing a big band album I thought it made perfect sense. For some reason though I just didn't like it. I mean it is not delete-able bad, but it's not as good as I had hoped.

5) Prince & The New Power Generation/ Jughead (Diamond and Pearls) - You know, Prince kind of lost me there for awhile because of stuff like this mainly. I mean does he even sing on this song? I'm confused.

6) Magic Pie/Tired (The Suffering Joy) - This is another one of those "newer" prog bands with some nice vocals and serious 70's influences. Wow, I like what I am hearing. Definitely going to give this band some more play time.

7) Jimi Hendrix/Stepping Stone (The Collection) - I don't know what to say. Just not a big fan.

8) Dennis DeYoung/Forgiveness (One Hundred Years From Now) - DDY! Dennis does have this mellow groove when it's not all about love songs. The man can still sing his ass off that's for sure.

9) Thomas Dolby/Europa and the Pirate Twins (The Golden Age of Wireless) You know, his videos in the 80's were funny and flaky, but he did some really good stuff like this one. He always gave me like a futuristic emo vibe.

10) Camel/Rhayader Alone (Music Inspired by the Snow Goose) - More great slow jazzy sounds from them. Don't know a thing about them but always liked their music.

The STCS for this week is Quiet Riot/Don't Wanna Let You Go (Metal Health). I love it when a metal band gets the Spinal Tap Commemorative Song. It just works. Not the best song off this album unfortunately.

We all held our breaths but The Beatles finally escaped Exile Island and, shockingly, RW didn't get banned to take back the lead. Thank goodness. I still need a better idea for that and the Tarkus though.

As always stay warm/cool and comfy wherever you are. Go Braves and Roll Tide!

I'm gonna let Thomas Dolby play us out. Enjoy.

Buy her singles and see all her films
Paste her pictures on my windowsill
But that's not quite the same - It isn't, is it?
Europa my old friend...
