This Day in Music History (04/03)

Arrival is the eleventh studio album by the American rock band Journey, released on this date in the United States in 2001. It was the band's first full-length studio album with new lead vocalist Steve Augeri, who replaced the better-known Steve Perry, and with Deen Castronovo, who replaced Steve Smith as the band's drummer.

The album was first released in Japan in late 2000 but, due to its leakage onto the internet, the band decided to delay its release in the United States. Based on feedback from fans who heard the leaked version, the band decided to record two harder rocking songs (because they were still trying to sing wimpy ass love songs?) that were included on the American version of the album, dropping the song "I'm Not That Way".

The album peaked at No. 56 on Billboard's album chart. It was the band's first album that did not receive at least gold status since 1977's Next.
