Me and my journey through life, from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows and all wacky, funny, deep, depressing and interesting points in between. My interests are varied from one end of the spectrum to another. Basically, the disappointing side of mediocre.

Music Monday: Styx/The Solo Albums (1984-1989)
I was in junior high when Kilroy came out. I spent all my high school years talking about the music of my favorite band without ever hearing anything new from them. For everyone else it was "oh yeah they did that roboto song". Grrr. By the time Edge of the Century came out in 1990, Styx was already losing favor with me as I was getting more and more into Yes. Besides, I was almost 1/2 way done with college at this point as well. That's a long time to go between albums (years to be exact).
Even though there were no Styx albums during this time, I picked up every solo album that came out.

Friday and the Random 10 (Birthday Edition)
It's my birthday! It's my birthday! No really, it actually is my birthday and the best part of the whole thing? Friday the 13th! I get lucky from time to time from being born on the 13th (at some point I am going to have to go back and check to see how many of my birthdays have been on a Friday...)
13 songs because, 13.

Friday and the Random 10 (Halloweenie Edition)
Well, looks like this will be the last Random 10 for October. Halloween is tomorrow night (dangit) so I was one day off from doing a spooktacular countdown. At least when I get back to work it will be the end of the MNSS parties. But hey, Christmas is right around the corner now and those parties start up November 8th! Geez.

Friday and the Random 10
Another week gone and time to do one of my favorite weekly posts. Not that it is wildly popular, it's just something that's fun for me to do. A look back at last week shows me that good ole RW got a monthly ban. Oh well, we will all survive somehow. As usual, the rules and whatnot are over there → to the right.
1) Tommy Shaw/Love You Too Much - This was during the post Styx/pre Damn Yankees period where he did a few solo albums. Some good songs in there but you would have thought they would have been better.
2) Foreigner/I'll Get Even With You - Some good ole stuff from Head Games.
3) Trio/Da Da Da - Okay, I had to Google this one to get the name of the band. It's on some miscellaneous 80's album. You know, this song that will be stuck in your head all day now:
4) Saga/The Sound of Strangers - Canadian rockers! It seems I am stuck in the 80's.
5) C2T/Close to the Hype - What is the worst rap sampling dance mix you can possibly imagine? Hey, let's use a lot of Yes's lyrics in a rap and get Jon Anderson to sing on it. On a side note, I actually like this and there was no video for it so I made one.
7) Pink Floyd/Vera - Still cant get into them but classic album cover.
8) The B-52's/Rock Lobster - I have no words,
9) The Human League/(Keep Feeling) Fascination - I looked. I learned. I moved on.
10) Kanas/What's On My Mind - From Leftoverture. Classic and Kansas at their peak.
Well there we have it. It seems I had a hard time getting out of the 80's, which isn't such a bad thing. No one got banned, probably because I cleaned out a lot of crap last night. The STCS for this week is Chicago/Devil's Sweet. Well it's been that kind of countdown so might as well let them play us out...
Let's get this train a rolling!

Friday and the Random 10
Well once again it's Friday so you know what that means! Valentine's Day is finally over? No, not that. I'm gonna hit random on my entire music collection and list the first ten songs that pop up. I mean really, you should know how it works by now. If not, get with the program! Let's see what 1/2 price chocolate day has in store for me:
1) Foreigner/Night to Remember - actually I don't remember anything from last night. I don't even remember this song
2) Alabama/I Ain't Got No Business Doin' Business Today - Not my style. As the Cybermen say: Delete! Delete!.
3) Rush/Roll The Bones - finally a good song. It's a parallax you dig? Video winner because hey, a rapping skeleton.
4) Across the Universe soundtrack/Let It Be - great song from a good movie
5) Styx/Pieces of Eight - title track and album cover winner
6) Rush/Prime Mover - back when Rush did music I could actually listen to
7) Genesis/Second Home by the Sea - back when Genesis was tha bomb!
8) Asia/The Smile Has Left Your Eyes - cant let this album cover go unnoticed either
9) Shaw-Blades/For What It's Worth - Tommy Shaw of Styx and Jack Blades of Night Ranger were in Damn Yankees with Ted Nugent. Got that straight? Ok, well they did an album together of song that influenced them growing up with the clever title of Influences. It's a great album though.
10) AC/DC/Rock And Roll Aint Noise Pollution - no, no it's not
Well there ya go.That seems to be a good mix of 70's - 90's (with no RW again I might add!). The STCS for this week is Korn/Seen It All.
