Friday and the Random 10 (Good Friday Edition)

Happy Good Friday everyone! Or is it just Good Friday to you all? I don't know the best way to say it and surely don't want Catholics mad at me. Either way, you know what day it is.

Quick Von, distract them with music. Hey look down there:

Friday and the Random 10 (So Long Mickey Mouse Edition)

So another week has come and gone and it's basically the same routine here everyday: work with a possibility of getting rained on. Such is the Disney life. Glamorous I know.

Well as constant as a 1:15 central Florida thunderstorm is Friday's Random 10. Looking back at last week I see that no one got the ban so it's all fair game this week. As usual the rules and whatnot are up there ↑ at the top.

Let's bring the thunder!

1) The Beatles/Revolution 1 - Makes me want to buy some Nike's. Some of y'all remember.

2) Jackson Browne/Before the Deluge - How appropriate.

3) Toto/I Will Remember - And somehow I don't remember this song at all.

4) Pink Floyd/In The Flesh - Some PF I can tolerate. Classic album cover winner:

5) The Moody Blues/Talking Out of Turn - One of my favorite "personal" songs that have deep meaning to me. I love everything about this song.

6) Asia/Heroine - This was my "divorce" album, however this was one of my least favorite songs from Phoenix.

7) Return to Forever/Song Long Mickey Mouse - Ummm, what? Instrumental jazzy piece with no lyrics. Dang I was real curious.

8) Bronz/The Cold Truth - One hit wonders. This wasn't it.

9) Rachmaninoff/Piano Concerto #1 - Now all I need is a fire and glass of wine. Well, and a lady. That would help.

10) Aerosmith/Come Together - From that Sgt. Pepper's movie again. Yeah it had Aerosmith. Yeah it's awesome like that.

Well there we go for another week. I'm sure I got a lot of Disney peeps to read this because of the title. No I'm not going anywhere (for now). No one gets banned for next week which is always cool. That Tarkus hasn't been around in awhile. The STCS is Saga/The Flyer. Canada represents!

As always, stay cool and dry central Florida, and Roll Tide!

Play us out with sensitivity boys:

Friday and the Random 10 (NFL Draft Edition)

Well the NFL Draft is finally upon us. The only thing I really care about is seeing where my Bama boys go, and to a lesser degree who the Falcons pick. You know's better? Seeing what music pops up on my random ten.

Last week may have been the best one ever, with no bannings and such. As usual the rules and whatnot are up there ↑ at the top.

The commissioner has the card, and the top ten music selections are in:

Friday and the Random 10

Another week gone and time to do one of my favorite weekly posts. Not that it is wildly popular, it's just something that's fun for me to do. A look back at last week shows me that good ole RW got a monthly ban. Oh well, we will all survive somehow. As usual, the rules and whatnot are over there → to the right.

Let's get this train a rolling!

1) Tommy Shaw/Love You Too Much - This was during the post Styx/pre Damn Yankees period where he did a few solo albums. Some good songs in there but you would have thought they would have been better.

2) Foreigner/I'll Get Even With You - Some good ole stuff from Head Games.

3) Trio/Da Da Da - Okay, I had to Google this one to get the name of the band. It's on some miscellaneous 80's album. You know, this song that will be stuck in your head all day now:

4) Saga/The Sound of Strangers - Canadian rockers! It seems I am stuck in the 80's.

5) C2T/Close to the Hype - What is the worst rap sampling dance mix you can possibly imagine? Hey, let's use a lot of Yes's lyrics in a rap and get Jon Anderson to sing on it. On a side note, I actually like this and there was no video for it so I made one.

6) Boston/Surrender to Me - And the ass kicking continues! Right before they fell off a cliff.

7) Pink Floyd/Vera - Still cant get into them but classic album cover.

8) The B-52's/Rock Lobster - I have no words,

9) The Human League/(Keep Feeling) Fascination - I looked. I learned. I moved on.

10) Kanas/What's On My Mind - From Leftoverture. Classic and Kansas at their peak.

Well there we have it. It seems I had a hard time getting out of the 80's, which isn't such a bad thing. No one got banned, probably because I cleaned out a lot of crap last night. The STCS for this week is Chicago/Devil's Sweet. Well it's been that kind of countdown so might as well let them play us out...

Friday and the Random 10

Well we've reached the end to another week. Could be good, could be bad, could be just meh. But it's always a party when the Random 10 comes rolling along (Lord I hope so anyway). So it's time to set your various music devices on shuffle and hope the gods of randomness are kind to you.

And away we go!

1) AC/DC/All Screwed Up - that's what I'm talking about.

2) Apollo 440/Electro Glide in Blue - I like these guys' stuff

3) Tommy Shaw/Kiss Me Hello - a great song from TS's first solo album Girls with Guns.

4) Porcupine Tree/The Sound of Muzak - they toured with Yes a few years back and I had never heard of them so I thought I would give them a try. They're kind of one of those newer prog bands.

5) The Alan Parsons Project/I Wouldn't Want to Be Like You - another band that toured with Yes, but I actually got to see them in concert (Nashville, I think). I was severely impressed by them that I don't remember much about Yes' performance. This is also they're first appearance in the Random 10!

6) Saga/Amnesia - all hail these Canadian rockers! Album cover winner for the cool 80's sunglasses.

7) Van Halen/So This is Love? - during the David Lee Roth days.

8) Extreme/It's a Monster - I love this band. They did much, much better stuff than that More Than Words song. I wish more people would give them a listen, especially Extreme II and III.

9) Def Leppard/Heaven Is - Doesn't Adrenalize sound like a continuation of Hysteria? It does to me.

10) Camel/Preparation - more smooth sounds from them. Very mellow.

Well there we have it. Not a bad mix. No one got Cyberman'd (deleted!) this time around, although I'm so ready for that to happen next time. The STCS for this week is Casting Crowns/Glorious Day. If you have any music suggestions please leave them in the comment box below. Thanks! No real video to play us out this week so I'm going to leave you with this:

P.S. And do not forget to recommend this blog continues.

Friday and the Random 13

It's Friday the 13th, one of my favorite days, you know, because i'm weird that way. So this week I'm going to expand the random list for more awesome randomness. Let's get started!

1) Jon Anderson/Christy - this is from his Jon with Others CD, and it sounds bad...like demo in a basement bad...this is with John Paul Jones, whoever that is

2) Billy Squier/The Stroke - no words needed...immediate video required

3) Saga/No Stranger (Chapter 8) - back to back weeks with the Canadian rockers!

4) Kitaro/A Drop of Silence - A Japanese composer/new age musician...good stuff

5) Beethoven/Coriolan Overture - yeah, I'm deep like that

6) Prince/Baby I'm a Star - from that Rain CD, Purple or something...

7) Journey/Edge of the Moment - trying to sound alot like the Escape/Frontiers era...sometimes the magic is gone and you cant bring it back no matter how hard you try

8) Cyndi Lauper/I Drove All Night - ahhh Cyndi...

9) Boston/My Destination - side one of Third Stage is an epic masterpiece...

10) Styx/High Enough - yes, this is the Damn Yankees song, but the Styx version from the CD Regeneration...you know, since Tommy seems to have written it and was/is in both bands

And now to the bonus tracks...

11) Billy Squier/My Kinda Lover - holy effin crap! My train buddies know I was channeling my inner Squier this past week and now he's shown up twice!

12) Survivor/Everlasting - wow, was there a better album in 1984 for chicks than Vital Signs?

And Lucky 13 is.... drum roll please...

13) Saga/On The Loose - speechless....PLAY US OUT!

The Random 10: Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick

Well I know I'm a day late with this but I'm sure my 3 fans will get over it. Work has rudely intruded into my life once more and my timing from here on out might be a little hit and miss. But anyway, it looks like all my issues from last week have been resolved so now we can get down to business. Let's get random!

1) Saga/The Writing - dont know this song but love these Canadian rockers!

2) Trans-Siberian Orchestra/The Moment - from their non-Christmas CD Beethoven's Last Night...good stuff

3) Rick Wakeman/The Glade - dont get me started...but have you noticed every song so far is "The" something? Kinda cool...

4) Ian Dury & the Blockheads/Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick - wow, from some weird 80's CD I have

5) AC/DC/House of Jazz - not quite jazz...lol...this was when it seemed like they put out a CD every other month

6) YES/Whitefish - from 9021Live: The Solos...this was Alan White on drums and Chris Squire (the fish) on bass...hence the name white and fish

7) YES/New Languages - awesome song...give a listen:

8) ELO/The Diary of Horace Wimp - album cover winner

9) Alabama/I'm Not That Way Anymore - an actual good song that I kept in my library

10) Bow Wow Wow/I Want Candy - this is one of the first songs I ever remember on MTV (you know, when they actually played music and didn't suck balls)..and it's still a classic.

So that does it for another week. The Spinal Tap Commemorative Song this week is Styx/Too Much Time on My Hands...whuh? I had that last week right? Anyway, tomorrow is Easter so enjoy your candy...
