Friday and the Random Ten (Smoke on the Water Edition)

Time for things to get back to normal around here, but I can't believe it is already the middle of September. You know what that mean at Disney right? Yep, Halloween parties! Ugh. The first one was on the 15th. Like three days ago the 15th. Of September. Disney has to milk that cash cow as much as they can. Not a holiday I care much for in the first place. Oh well, let's see if the Random 10 is down with it.

The last countdown cleared out Exile Island and left it vacant so no Tarkus worries this time around. Dangit. As usual, the rules and whatnot are up there ↑ at the top near the home tab.

Let's get spooky!

1) Tron Scherzo/Wendy Carlos (Tron soundtrack) - Here's to chopping things off way before Bruce Jenner did!

2) Deep Purple/Smoke on the Water (Machine Head) - Classic rock track which actually tells the true story of someone shooting off a flare gun at a Frank Zappa concert which caused the whole casino to burn down. Epic.

3) Concerto No. 1 (Spring)/Vivaldi (The Four Seasons) - I still have class and taste ya know.

4) Xandria/Atonement (Sacrificium) - Still trying to get into them. Sometimes it's almost like they try too hard.

5) Aerosmith/Kings and Queens (Greatest Hits) - Back when they were drug crazed rockers and not long winded whiny wannabe crooners. Wow, that just flowed right out...

6) ELO/The Lights Go Down (Time) - Maybe the best album they ever did and one of my personal favorites. Not the best song from it though.

7) Boston/We Can Make It (Walk On) - The last Boston album that was worth a damn. It's really too bad they didn't put out more stuff during their peak years.

8) Opeth/Death Whispered a Lullaby (Damnation) - I know a lot of people rave about them, but I guess I just haven't listened enough.

9) Dream Theater/Through My Words (Metropolis Pt. 2, Scenes From a Memory) - When I was writing what I did about Opeth, Dream Theater popped into my mind and here they are. A lot of similarities between them I think.

10) Unitopia/This Time, I Think We've Got It Right (Artificial) - I don't know much about them either, but it kinda reminds me of Camel in a jazzy, moody way. At least this song anyway.

The STCS for this week goes to Prince/I Wanna Be Your Lover (The Hits 2). I think this was one of his first hits. It does sound like it was still in the last of the disco days, something I believe Spinal Tap despised. Anyway, it was a good mix this week with no one getting sent to Exile Island.

As always stay cool/dry and comfy wherever you are. Go Braves and Roll Tide!

Play us out boys!

Frank Zappa and the Mothers
Were at the best place around
But some stupid with a flare gun
Burned the place to the ground...
