As usual the rules and whatnot are up there ↑ next to the home tab.
And now for some music!
1) Yes/The Man You Always Wanted Me To Be (Fly From Here) - This is some of the newer, non-Jon Anderson YES that I can't quite get my grips on. I like it, but it's just missing something (JA perhaps?)
2) Rush/Countdown (Signals) - Some great 80's stuff. It's intelligent and I love the NASA audio in the background. It's almost like a video made of an actual launch.
3) God is an Astronaut/Empyrean Glow/Far From Refuge) - Another intelligent band and one of the newer ones I have found. I like their stuff.
4) The Marshall Tucker Band/Stay in the Country (Anthology, Disc 2) - I have been trying to get back in touch with my Southern roots lately. This is one of the places I started. And welcome to the party!
5) Chicago/The Pull (Stone of Sisyphus) - See now this is the album that the record company refused to release because it was so bad. I usually slam them, but I have heard worse that's for sure. This doesn't totally suck. At least it is not a love song.
6) David Bowie/Let's Dance (Let's Dance) - I remember him slightly back in the 80's trying to remain relevant. It did not work too well beyond this song. And another to be welcomed to the party.
7) Camel/City Life (Nude) - This song/album is based on a true story of a Japanese soldier (Hiroo Onoda) marooned on an island in World War II who doesn't know that the war is over. "Nude" derives from his family name "Onoda".
8) Lunatic Soul/Cold (Walking on a Flashlight Beam) - Another one of those "new" intelligent bands that I have discovered. Also another one new to the countdown. I am glad it's finally digging a little deeper for songs.
9) Led Zeppelin/Ozone Baby (Coda) - Definitely the most rocking song in the countdown so far. These guys don't want to be smart or intelligent, they just wanna rock.
10) Midnight Oil/Beds are Burning (The Best 80's Songs) - This was a protest song about giving native Australian lands back to the Pintupi, who were among the very last people to come in from the desert. Everyone acted like this band was going to be huge, but alas, nope.

The STCS for this week goes to the Dream Theater/Overture (Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence). Wow, yet another intelligent, progressive band. I feel like this has been the most intellectual group of singers/artists ever on the Random 10. So if you're looking for crap like One Direction or any other boy bands just keep moving along. This place is too smart for you...

As always stay warm/cool and comfy wherever you are. Go Braves and Roll Tide!
Midnight Oil is probably the most recognizable to everyone so I'll give them one more moment of glory and let them play us out:
How can we dance when our earth is turning?
How do we sleep while our beds are burning?
