Friday and the Random 10 (Original Content Edition)

You know, on my blog here I started doing a lot of what I called "fillers" (This Day in Music/Disney History) just to fill in the gaps between posts. People seem to like them so that's okay, but they seem to be overtaking my blog a bit. I mean it seems that's all I post. I know work doesn't leave me much time to write "original" posts, but I do notice the trend and hope to add more varied content in the future.

That being said, one of the mainstays around here is obviously the Random Ten. Without further delay, let's get right into that!

The last countdown did not add anyone to Exile Island and left it vacant again. All that worrying I did about how I would handle the Tarkus and it hasn't even shown up in 2015. That problem may have sorted itself out. Oh well. As usual, the rules and whatnot are up there ↑ at the top near the home tab.

Original or extra crispy?

1) Aerosmith/One Way Street (Greatest Hits) - Not familiar with this one. Sounds like a live version from somewhere. And harmonicas are ONLY for train songs.

2) Rush/Roll the Bones (Roll the Bones) - Jack, relax. Get busy with the facts. Seriously good song, but it's all about the "rap".

3) Unitopia/What Kind of World (Artificial) - Not bad. Almost sounds like old school Genesis mixed with Toto, or even a Christian group maybe.

4) Rick Wakeman/Stax (Crimes of Passion) - Expecting keyboards and get a slow saxophone? This sounds like the song a wedding band would play at the very end of a reception with only two people dancing.

5) Prism/Vladivostok (Prism) - Oh those 70's/80's Canadian rock bands!

6) Opeth/Benighted (Still Life) - Mellow acoustic song. I guess that's the mood for today.

7) The Buggles/Adventures in Modern Recording (Adventures in Modern Recording) - This was the abandoned and then finished final album from them after they did their stint in Yes.

8) Steve Miller Band/Take the Money and Run (Greatest Hits 1974-78) - This will always be for you $cam Newton. No I don't hold grudges. Oh, and welcome to the party!

9) Led Zeppelin/You Shook Me (Led Zeppelin) - Not the best song from their debut album, but they may have a bright future.

10) Sithu Aye/Shiny (Pulse) - Another one of those mostly instrumental atmospheric landscape ambience bands. I somehow need to make that a thing (iala?). Either way, welcome to the party as well!

The STCS for this week goes to Diana Ross/Chain Reaction (101 80's Hits, Disk 4). Okay, at first I was like whut?!? Then I noticed the album and remembered she was somewhat relevant in the early 80's after the disco thing had gone away. Spinal Tap is cringing for sure. Anyway, it's always a good week when you can add two new acts to the countdown. No one got sent to Exile Island, so I may have solved that Tarkus problem. RW gave me some hope for a few minutes there tough.

********************************************************************************

As always stay cool/dry and comfy wherever you are. Go Braves and Roll Tide!

Seriously though, the rap starting at 3:25...

It's action...reaction
Random interaction
So who's afraid of a little abstraction?
Can't get no satisfaction from the facts?
You better run, homeboy
A fact's a fact
From Nome to Rome, boy
