Me and my journey through life, from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows and all wacky, funny, deep, depressing and interesting points in between. My interests are varied from one end of the spectrum to another. Basically, the disappointing side of mediocre.
What's the surprise? That there actually is a random 10 this week. I know it has been awhile, and my work schedule is not very conducive to lots of blogging time. That is something I will be addressing soon. I just never seem to have any time anymore. Me no likey.
Last week I did a special Christmas edition of the Random 10, and as I checked the calender I realized that this one will be the last for 2014. So I wondered if I could use the search function on my media player to just pull up music/albums that were released this year. Turns out I can. Now everyone knows by now I am more of a classic rock kind of dude and it shows up in the countdown a lot, but at least you can see that I try to make an effort to stay somewhat contemporary. The rules and whatnot are still up there ↑ at the top, but we'll let them slide so we can start off the new year fresh.
1) Amaranthe/Danger Zone - One of the new bands I am high on. However I can't stand the whole "death metal" singer thing. That's not singing. And the chick is hot. The new album is called "Massive Addictive".
2) Moonlit Sailor/Paris - I have recently discovered something called "post rock" (I know I'm behind the times) which is mostly a lot of cool experimental instrumentals and very little vocals, if any at all.
3) Amaranthe/Exhale - Also from "Massive Addictive". I did post one of their older (and awesome) videos here if you want to check them out.
4) AC/DC/Hard Times - Hell yeah I was excited they came out with something new. I was saddened by the news that Malcolm Young had to leave the band because he was suffering from dementia. This is currently #10 on the album charts.
5) Intervals/Atlas Hour - Another new "intelligent" band I have found. Kind of like Dream Theater.
6) Skyharbor/Evolution - Same as above. I like bands that actually put some thought behind their music. They pretty much had me at the album cover too.
7) AC/DC/Baptism By Fire - Keep rocking on guys.
8) AC/DC/Miss Adventure - Sounds like the kind of woman I am looking for.
9) Moonlit Sailor/Dollar Underwater - It's like they paint cool landscapes with music.
10) Yes/The Game - Yeah, that's right. They did release a new album this year. I will be covering it very soon on my Music Monday segments. I might not be very kind to it either. But hey, we did get a new Roger Dean album cover.
I am sitting here hoping that something in particular shows up. It is my favorite new band of 2014. It's probably the kiss of death that I am so high on them so maybe it's best if they don't show up. The STCS for the last time in 2014 is Yes/To Ascend, which is one thing their albums no longer do on the charts (ouch). That new band will just have to remain a mystery for now.
