Friday and the Random 10 (Disney Lingo Edition)

Wow, I am up way too early today. It has been another busy week at work, but at least tonight is another one of those short nights. Not NoJ this time, but MNSSHP. What? You don't speak Disney? That's Night of Joy and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Yes, Halloween. In the middle of September. Bad part is this is already the third one. Third!

Enough of that though, let's get to the music. Looking back at last week, I see that The Beatles got banned, joining RW in being 101. Predictable.

As usual, the rules and whatnot are up there ↑ at the top in the OG.

Who is 102? Let's see...

1) Jethro Tull/Wind-Up - You know what every band needs? A lead singer that plays the flute. This is from the album Aqualung. Sound familiar? Yeah, it's what Ron Burgundy plays on his flute in the Anchorman movies.

2) RW/Slaveman RW/Minas Tirith Frank Zappa/Don't Eat the Yellow Snow - Something new I added this week. Sorry, but it's mostly crap to me. Also:

3) Frank Zappa/Louie Louie - And welcome to being banned. More crap.

4) Porcupine Tree/Blackest Eyes - The album cover winner here describes how I feel when guests ask me a dumb question:

5) Sammy Hagar/Bad Motor Scooter - Back in his days with Montrose.

6) Styx/Put Me On - Back when they seemed to start every album with a JY song. DDY does sing one part though.

7) Daft Punk/Crescendolls - Good. I needed a little credibility. However, this beat is slightly annoying.

8) Starcastle/Forces - Wow, if ever there was a band that wanted to be the American Yes then this is them. I like their music though.

9) Gentle Giant/Alucard - More of that early 70's jazz fusion that seems to be annoying the crap out of me for some reason this morning.

10) Yes/Vevey (Revisited) - A bonus track from the Going for the One re-issue. They were obviously working on a smaller part of a larger song here (probably Awaken) since it is only an organ and harp playing. Yeah, I said harp.

Well there we go for another week. I don't know why I feel irritated by this music today. At least I won't have to listen to Zappa next week because of the banning. I may go back and delete a lot of his inventory. The Beatles are now 102 and able to participate next week. RW has an ROS until September ends.

The STCS is Wendy Carlos/Ending Titles (Tron soundtrack). The original movie where everything had a computer "sound". Makes me want to call DACS.

As always, stay cool and dry wherever you are, and Roll Tide!

Play us out boys!

Friday and the Random 10 is now 10-7 for the week.

Friday and the Random 10 (Night of Joy Edition)

So tonight is a special event at Disney called Night of Joy. It's a separate ticket event that has Christian music acts performing at various locations throughout the park. It's kinda cool if you're into that. I have enjoyed some of the music in the past.

Anyway, the best part about this event is that the trains do not operate! We are done and off the tracks by 6:00. This gives me and all my train peeps a chance to hang out together since we are all off so early. The party is on. Good times!

And now for the reason we are all here. Looking back at last week I see that RW is already banned for the month of September (shocker). And as usual the rules and whatnot are up there ↑ at the top.

Let's roll the dice!

1) Gentle Giant/Mobile - This sounds like a bad Kansas rip off band. Viggle has no idea what this song is.

2) The Beatles/Dear Prudence - Great song. I loved what they did with it in the movie "Across the Universe".

3) Yes/New State of Mind - Decent song on a flat out awful, forgettable album. Not even worth showing the album cover.

4) Dream Theater/Learning to Live - Maybe a little heavier than I like my prog. I still haven't listened to them much.

5) RW/Sir Galahad AC/DC/Rocking All the Way - Not real familiar with this album, but I'll give it the album cover winner:

6) The Beatles/Wait - Great classic song that unfortunately gets them banned for next week.

7) Cherry Poppin' Daddies/Master and Slave - Swing away daddy-o!

8) King Crimson/Exiles - Always good stuff with them. I can kinda see why Bill Bruford left Yes for them. More experimental types of music.

9) Jimmy Buffett/Cheeseburger in Paradise - Classic Jimmy. Now I'm hungry.

10) Boston/The Star Spangled Banner - Live version that was included on their greatest hits CD. I don't know why.

Well there it is. RW is banned for the month so I just ignored him. Too bad that it was actually from a great album of his. Hey, some of them had to be good right? The Beatles get banned for next week too. Misery loves company I guess. They seem to end up in exile together a lot.

The STCS is Def Leppard/Stay with Me from the album of cover songs they did. Meh.

As always stay cool and dry wherever you are, and Roll Tide!

Play us out across the universe...

Friday and the Random 10 (Football is Back Edition)

You all know I love me some baseball. The pennant races are heating up as the season is winding down, but wait? What is that on my TV? Is that college football I see? Is it time for my beloved Crimson Tide to start its march for (hopefully) another national championship? Yes it is. Booyah!

It also means that fall is coming, and hopefully, soon enough, cooler weather down here. The temps down here are still in the 90's with the first Not So Scary Halloween Party three (!) days away. Yes, I said three days. As in Monday. Happy Labor Day ya'll, now give me some candy.

With all that being said, let's get down to the real reason we are here. Looking back at last week I see that RW and The Beatles got banned. Let's see if I am right about my Tarkus prediction.

As usual the rules and whatnot are up there ↑ at the top. Time for the kickoff!
