Friday and the Random 10 (Bracket Buster Edition)

Spring training is in full bloom down here in central Florida, but the main thing going on is March Madness. Yes, the tournament is in full swing as of yesterday. My bracket is, well, worthless now. As most years I hardly make it past round one. At least I have opening day to look forward to in a few weeks.

Maybe the Random 10 will be full of Final Four teams and possibly a Cinderella or two. But first, as a quick review of last week, you can follow this link, or try and figure out the artists from the cool picture below:

The Beatles, Rick Wakeman and Billy Joel are the inhabitants of Exile Island this week. This means they cannot appear in the countdown below.

1) Trans-Siberian Orchestra/Remnants of a Lullaby (Night Castle) - Yes, they do non-Christmas stuff...and yes it's as awesome as you think. Elite 8 status.

2) Phillip Oakley & Giorgio Moroder/Together in Electric Dreams (Electric Dreams soundtrack) - Virginia Madsen. Cello. Nuff said. Definitely a Cinderella.




3) The Black Eyed Peas/Missing You (The E.N.D) - Hey I can get funky sometimes. They would be a first round winner, but probably bumped out in the next game depending on the match up.

 4) The Beatles/Carry That Weight

4) The Little River Band/We Two (The Definitive Collection) - Perennial tournament maker but this time with not one of their best teams (songs). Maybe a first round winner but no further.

5) The Moody Blues/Nothing Changes (Strange Times) - This is one of of those whose glory days were long ago but occasionally makes the tournament for nostalgia reasons when they put together a decent season. Probably one and done.



6) ABWH/Order of the Universe - Long Edit (Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe) - Okay, this is your home team in the tournament with some of the starters missing. You pull for them harder than anyone else, but no one else seems to understand why. 


7) God is an Astronaut/Sunrise in Aries (Far from Refuge) - This is one of those new teams that pop up occasionally. Probably their first time in the tournament and will lose to a perennial power in a close game that gets everyone talking about them.

8) Dream Theater/Light the Fuse and Get Away (When Dream and Day Unite) - This is one of those teams where the hype just doesn't match expectations or results. You hear about how great they are, but they just seem to disappoint.

9) Kansas/One Man, One Heart (In the Spirit of Things) - This is another team whose glory days are far behind them (Jayhawks?). You will definitely watch the game if they are playing though. Maybe Sweet 16 every now and then after being a Final Four team years ago.

10) The Muses/The Gospel Truth (Disney's Hercules soundtrack) - This is like the halftime show I guess. And don't judge me. I work there remember.

The STCS for this week is Kansas/Relentless (Audio Visions). Great song from a great album (Final Four material), unfortunately they get sent to Exile Island next week. They will have company because The Beatles got Tarkus'd right back there. Billy Joel and RW are now free again though so at least there is a little more breathing room for them.
