Friday and the Random 10 (5 Star Edition)

Well how was that for a Super Bowl? Not bad huh? I wasn't too far off with my prediction of New England by a score of 33-30 (it was actually 28-24). Seriously though Seattle, run the damn ball.

In bigger and better news though, Bama pulled in yet another #1 recruiting class. Ho hum. It would be really nice if we got some to stay for the senior year instead of bolting for the NFL. That's what happens when you sign all those 5 star recruits. #BamaProblems

Let's see how many stars this week's Random 10 would get! But first, as a quick review of last week, you can follow this link, or check out the cool picture below:

As always the rules and whatnot are up there ↑ at the top next to the Home tab.

Exile Island still has a vacancy!

********************************************************************************

1) Yes/Endless Dream: Silent Spring (instrumental) - This is an intro to another "epic" song by Yes. I covered this song (and album) previously in a post that can be found here. This album's tour was actually the first Yes concert I ever got to see.

2) Electric Light Orchestra/Four Little Diamonds - ELO did some great music in the 70's and early 80's. The violins and cellos really set them apart from other bands.

3) Emerson, Lake and Palmer/Pirates - Way back before pirates were all the rage, ELP did this awesome song.

4) The Rolling Stones/Get Off Of My Cloud - What are these guys, like 100 now? Yeah I know the are like legends and stuff and this is one of their very early songs.

5) Rick Wakeman/Custer's Last Stand - And here we go. I do not even know what to say about RW's solo albums anymore.

6) God is an Astronaut/Loss - Still learning about this band, but still impressed with what I have heard so far.

7) Amaranthe/Massive Addictive - More awesome new music I have found. This is kind of electronic mixed with death metal, yet polished and shiny. Very cool music. Highly recommended. Also, cool as Hell album cover.

8) The Beatles/I'm So Tired - Sometimes I think these guys just mailed it in and the public just bought it. I mean yeah I know everything can't be "I am the Walrus" but still.

9) Bronz/Night Runner - Wow, I have this mostly unknown album from a one hit wonder band and a song from it shows up two weeks in a row? And it still isn't the hit! Time to improve those odds!

10) Led Zeppelin/Communication Breakdown - Now this is the Zep that I like! Classic album.

********************************************************************************

So far I would rate this countdown as a solid 4 stars. Many classic bands (and a few great new ones), but not that great of a song selection. That drags the ratings down. I do not think the STCS could improve upon that either, thought it could take us down yet another notch. Let's see what we get:

The STCS for this week is Cherry Poppin' Daddies/When I Change Your Mind. Well there has been quite enough of that lately. I obviously need to work on my inventory more. Maybe 3.5 stars after that, but hey still no one on Exile Island.

********************************************************************************

As always stay warm and comfy wherever you are, and Roll Tide!

I'm gonna let ELP play us out.

If you've never heard this before you need to listen. Seriously.
