Friday and the Random 10 (Hurricane Matthew Edition)

Oh yeah, it's THAT time of the year down in the FL too. People ask me, does Disney close for hurricanes? Yep. If it's a matter of guest safety then they will close (last time was in '04 I believe). They even have "rideout crews" that you can sign up for to do sandbags, move trashcans, etc. I always sign up for that because it sounds fun. And they put you up in a nice hotel.

UPDATE: Disney is closed today Friday, Oct 7.

So let's pass some time to randomized music while watching to see if Jim Cantore shows up on Main Street, USA.

No one was added to Exile Island last week so it's smooth sailing for now. And as usual, the rules and whatnot are up there ↑ at the top near the home tab.

Here I am! Rock you like a hurricane!

1) Caspian/Long the Desert Mile (Waking Season) - Some more good instrumental guitar stuff from them. And wow, thought they had made the countdown before but nope, so:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2) Journey/I'm Gonna Leave You (Look Into the Future) - More early stuff from them. This is from their second album. SP won't be around for until the fifth. Oh, and this is the song that some people claim Kansas stole the rift for "Carry On Wayward Son". You can actually hear it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3) Heart/Straight On (Essential Heart) - Back when they were seriously badass.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4) Chicago/Scrapbook (Chicago X) - Back when they were still Chicago, before the Love Song Spiral of Doom©®™ claimed them like many other 70's bands.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5) Billy Joel/Tell Her About It (An Innocent Man) - First Chicago, now Mr. William Joel (hey, this is the video where that comes from!). Usually that means RW is coming and someone will get a trip to Exile Island, which is not a good place for a hurricane.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6) Glass Hammer/An Eldritch Wind (Chronometree) - The lead singer here joined Yes and is their current lead singer. No video though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7) The Human League/Heart Like a Wheel (The Very Best of the Human League) - For it to to be the "best of" you would think I would know this song. Nope.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8) Mozart/Rex Tremendae Majestatis (Amadeus soundtrack) - Every now and then I have to hit y'all with a touch of class. Amadeus made me a huge Mozart fan back in the 80's.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9) Camel/Captured (Nude) - They were actually #9 last week as well. Coincidence? There are no coincidences. This is a concept album about the Japanese soldier that surrendered from WW2 in like 1974. That's dedication!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10) Rush/Red Tide (Presto) - This is not a false alarm! This is not a test!

********************************************************************************

The STCS for this week goes to REO Speedwagon/Ridin' the Storm Out (Ridin' the Storm Out). Okay yeah, this one isn't random but I felt like it was the most fitting way to sign off this week. Maybe I'll change the last song from now on this way? Hmmm, it's an idea. No one (thankfully) gets sent to Exile Island this week so we will have a clean slate next week once again.

********************************************************************************

Stay cool/dry/comfy wherever you are, avoid pumpkin spice flavored anything, be safe, and Roll Tide!

Not missing a thing!
