Me and my journey through life, from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows and all wacky, funny, deep, depressing and interesting points in between. My interests are varied from one end of the spectrum to another. Basically, the disappointing side of mediocre.
Oh yeah, it's THAT time of the year down in the FL too. People ask me, does Disney close for hurricanes? Yep. If it's a matter of guest safety then they will close (last time was in '04 I believe). They even have "rideout crews" that you can sign up for to do sandbags, move trashcans, etc. I always sign up for that because it sounds fun. And they put you up in a nice hotel. UPDATE: Disney is closed today Friday, Oct 7. So let's pass some time to randomized music while watching to see if Jim Cantore shows up on Main Street, USA.
Well it looks as if the rainy season has finally hit the sunshine state. Thunderstorms daily. Back to the norm. Today also happens to be one of my favorite days, Friday the 13th. I've never considered it a bad luck day seeing that I'm not one of the Knights Templar (for those of you that know your history). I even wore 13 in high school and college. Either way, it's time to roll out another random 10. You know what? Let's make that a random thirteen! Looking back at last week I see that AC/DC and Foreigner are banned for this week. As usual the rules and whatnot are there ↑ at the top. Get lucky! 1) Love Conquers All/Yes - This is a demo/Trevor Rabin song that didn't make it onto 90125. 2) A Day in the Life/Soundtrack (Sergeant Peppers) - One of my guilty pleasures. The Bee Gees singing this with Peter Frampton. 3) Vultures (In The City)/Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe - Bonus track that did not make it onto the ABWH album. How, I have no idea since this song is awesome. Give a listen:
4) Droned/Phil Collins - From his album with his face on the cover. No not that one. Or that one or that one or that one. Yeah, that one. 5) Mainstream/Kansas - The 80's were not too good to them either. 6) First Time/Styx - This is the song that actually broke the band up when they refused to release another wimpy love song. 7) Piano Concerto in E Flat/Soundtrack (Amadeus) - I've already told you of my love for Mozart. 8) It's Getting Better All The Time/The Beatles - You may have heard of this album:
9) 51st Anniversary/Jimi Hendrix - Just added this and it shows up right away. Cool.
10) Send Her My Love/Journey - Right smack dab in the middle of the 80's love song destruction. STCS: More About You/Steve Howe - Another one of his demos that ended up rewritten for ABWH. 12) Simply Irresistible/Robert Palmer - Classic. 13) Recycle Countdown/Nektar - One day I'm going to actually listen to their music. Well there we go for another week. No one gets banned and we didn't have an opportunity for the Tarkus to show up either. At least we added some new blood with the Hendrix. I'm still fine tuning my music y'all. Don't give up on me yet. I'm always welcome to suggestions!
So stay cool and dry central Florida, and as always Roll Tide!
Well another week has passed us by, unfortunately this week was filled with work instead of vacation. Me no likey. It's the reason this is coming out so late today. Anyway, let's get right to it. Looking back at last week I see that Yes gets banned again (I feel a Tarkus or two coming up), but I won't let that deter me any. As usual the rules and whatnot are up there ↑ at the top. Here we go!
What day is it? Friday! What do we want? A Random 10! You asked for it, you got it! If you're new here, the rules and all the details are over to the right (----> ) on the page I created. As for my other three (four? five?) constant readers welcome back! Enough wasting time, let's get down to it. I'm feeling particularly "anxious" today so I got a good feeling about this one! Here we go:
1) The Beatles/Revolution 1 - Still makes me want to buy a pair of Nike's. I like the faster version of this though. Classic album cover of nothingness:
2) The Buggles/Island - One of the bonus tracks for the re-mastered The Age of Plastic CD. These guys were both in YES at one point. The keyboard player is back with them today.
3) Red Hot Chili Peppers/Road Trippin - Haven't heard from these guys in awhile. Some of their stuff is surprisingly good.
4) Jon Anderson/Myo Maya - a short snippet from his Angels Embrace CD
5) Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe/Vultures in the City - This is the split off band formed by all the ex-Yes members that couldn't use the Yes name. Why this awesome song was not included on the ABWH album is a mystery. Give a listen:
6) Camel/Survival - Another great sounding track from them.
7) Red Hot Chili Peppers/Backwoods - Twice in the same countdown. Cool but a live version which I don't really care for.
8) Mozart/Serenate Part 1&2 - Don't roll your eyes at me. I've loved Mozart ever since I saw Amadeus. Plus, there was that Falco thing...
9) Bob Seger/Against the Wind - Wow. This was my divorce song. Hard time for me and Bob was there.
10) Michael Jackson/Satisfy You - Added his stuff awhile back and this is his first appearance. I don't know this song though so I will probably delete it when I'm done since he seems to be only doing the backing vocals and I have no interest in hearing this song again. So this gets two awards today! Welcome to the party pal, but you've just been deleted. Sorry.
Well that will do it for another week. The STCS this go around is The Beatles/Something. Another classic album but we already have a winner for that. Play us out Bob...
