Friday and the Random 10 (Jamaican Me Crazy with These Long Songs Edition)

So things are finally settling down some. The park hours are cutting back, it's cooling down a bit, and the Electric Light Parade is coming up to its final performance (Oct 9th)! After that, they have no idea what we will be doing at night. No really, there is nothing scheduled as of yet to replace it. Get ready for more Move It, Shake It dance parties!!! Meh.

No one was added to Exile Island last week so it's smooth sailing for now. And as usual, the rules and whatnot are up there ↑ at the top near the home tab.

Move it, shake it, dance and play it!

1) The Police/The Bed's Too Big Without You (Reggatta de Blanc) - Early ska/Jamaican sounding stuff from them. Good vibe.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2) Sithu Aye/Dirac Sea (Cassini) - Another one of those mostly instrumental, atmospheric bands. And there's a video. Cool.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3) UB40/Red Red Wine (101 80's Hits) - I like when songs that have a real video pop up. You know like anything from the 80's. More Jamaican influence.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4) Jethro Tull/Slipstream (Aqualung) - Too bad it's not the title track, or Locomotive Breath.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5) God is an Astronaut/Transmissions (Origins) - Basically the same as Sithu Aye earlier.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6) The Cars/Dangerous Type (Complete Greatest Hits) - Huge band in the late 70's/early 80's. Not so much after that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7) Van Halen/Could This Be Magic (Women and Children First) - This is one of those weird, acoustic DLR songs that sounds like it belongs in a 1950's Western.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8) Pink Floyd/Echoes (Meddle) - Long, 23+ minute track, but is it worth the journey? I'm tired and a few beers in so I am mellow enough to dig it this time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9) Camel/Lady Fantasy: Encounter/Smiles For You/Lady Fantasy (Mirage) - Here is yet another long tune but in a more smooth, jazzy way. Always dig their stuff.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10) Asia/Without You (Asia) - Great 80's supergroup (with Yes connections). From their debut album with a Roger Dean cover.

The STCS for this week goes to The Strawbs/Shine on Silver Sun (Hero and Heroine). Probably not Spinal Tap's cup of tea. RW was once in this band. No one (thankfully) gets sent to Exile Island this week so we will have a clean slate next week as well.

Stay cool/dry/comfy wherever you are, avoid pumpkin spice flavored anything, and Roll Tide!

Play us out Strawbs!
