Friday and the Random 10 (Triskaidekaphobia Edition)

Florida is still not cooperating y'all. They filmed a lot of the Christmas Day events at the Magic Kingdom this week (in case of bad weather) and most of the time it was a chilly 90+ degrees. It just ain't right. I'm gonna move to Michigan, or Hoth, I hear they're about the same in winter...

Anyway, at least there is one thing to perk me up a bit. Today is one of my favorite days: Friday the 13th! I have detailed before my love for thirteen. Wore it all through high school and college. So, when the Random 10 falls on this particular day I get to share more songs.

The Lucky 13:

Most of the inhabitants of Exile Island got to escape last week, but noooo, Journey had to go and get Tarkus'd...twice. They get the rest of the month, but this week they have to share it with Styx. That's how it goes. And as usual, the rules and whatnot are up there ↑ at the top near the home tab.

Triskaidekaphobics unite!

1) AC/DC/Walk All Over You (Highway to Hell) - Now that is how you start off a countdown!

2) Red Hot Chili Peppers/Throw Away Your Television (By The Way) - This is not a repeat for me. Never heard it before. I like it.

3) Anathema/Crestfallen (Falling Deeper) - Definite IALA moment:

4) Electric Light Orchestra/Need Her Love (Discovery) - Disco? Very! Great album during their peak years.

5) Billy Joel/Keeping the Faith (An Innocent Man) - Classic song from a classic throwback 80's album.

Yes it is a brave new world Styx, but not this week.

6) The Doobie Brothers/Dependin' On You (Greatest Hits) - Their sound changed from rock to a more softer edge and I didn't really care for it. They don't need to sound like Earth Wind & Fire. Just saying.

7) Quiet Riot/Bad Boy (Condition Critical) - Oh man! Back when 80's rock was the best.

8) Rick Wakeman/Do You Believe in Fairies (Rock N' Roll Prophet) - Wow, sometimes the jokes write themselves. I cannot believe how bad this song is.

9) The Moody Blues/Departure (In Search of the Lost Chord) - I think I really need to spend some time diving through their older works.

10) Eurythmics/Was It Just Another Love Affair? (The Ultimate Collection) - There 80's stuff was really cool, but it got much smoother when it was all about Annie.

STCS: AC/DC/War Machine (Black Ice) - Spinal Tap would definitely approve of this one. Unfortunately it gets them sent to Exile Island.

12) Dennis DeYoung/With Every Heartbeat (The Hunchback of Notre Dame) - No not the Disney one. His musical that pretty much cost him membership in Styx. Yeah, hope it was worth it.

13) The Moody Blues/Love Is on the Run (Sur La Mer) - Not quite the "soundtrack to a dream" stuff. It sounds more like the music as the credits roll on an 80's movie. Oh, and banned next week.

********************************************************************************

Well that wasn't too bad of a countdown. Journey gets to keep Styx around another week thanks to the Tarkus. It is going to get a little crowded as AC/DC and the Moody Blues showed up twice this week so they will be joining them as well. Oh well, that's the chance you take when extra songs get added.

********************************************************************************

As always stay cool/dry and comfy wherever you are. Roll Tide! Just keep winning!

Gonna let the RHCP play us out!

Throw away your television
Make a break big intermission
Recreate your super vision now
It's a repeat of a story told
It's a repeat and it's getting old
