Music Monday (Yes/Fly From Here, Side 2)

So now that we have gotten through the epic on side one of Fly From Here, it is time to finish up and cover the rest of the album by The Buggles Yes.

Side Two

7) The Man You Always Wanted Me To Be - I could tell right away this song wasn't a Trevor Horn one. Chris Squire all the way. And the vocals too.

8) Life on a Film Set - Buggles song all the way here. It was from a demo called "Riding a Tide". In this song it is "riding a tiger". Meh.

********************************************************************************

9) Hour of Need - Now this is a really good song that I thought they should have released as a single in conjunction with maybe Greenpeace or some other charity. The album version only contains the acoustic parts, while the intro and musical finale are only available on the Japanese issue for some stupid ass reason. I just don't get why they have different versions on different releases. I am certainly not going to buy the "plain" one.

********************************************************************************

10) Solitaire - Obligatory Steve Howe acoustic solo piece. For some reason this just did not work for me. I feel like the different sections just did not work together.

********************************************************************************

11) Into the Storm - Now this song I like. It actually sounds like they are having fun and are full of energy. It might even be my favorite one on the album simply because of the chorus:

Armies of angels are starting to fall
Bathed in the light at the break of the dawn
Armies of angels are leading me on
Take me away from the heart of the storm
Take me away
Take me away

You want my honest opinion of all this? This is a Buggles album using Yes as musicians. It was just a rehash of old material and didn't really offer anything new.

Fly From Here debuted at number 36 in the US, dropping to number 97 in its second week, making it the first Yes album since Talk to spend two weeks in the top 100. Whoop de doo...
