I was so excited I even checked in:
That excitement wouldn't last.
So we drove our way through these little back roads in the middle of nowhere. At one point I thought it wasn't even a real place and began looking for abandoned cars along the side of the road that had fallen prey to an attack of some sort. I even think I heard banjo music at one point.
We came to a fork in the road with another brown park sign, but it was stuck directly in the middle with no indication which way to go. We went left. We chose poorly. I swear we went north, did some serpentine's and then came upon the same fork in the road without ever traveling south. Somewhere out there is a crack in the space-time continuum.
I'm no dummy. This time we went to the right and eventually it led us to a small, maybe five car parking lot for the "state park". The sign out front peaked our excitement:
Oh yeah. It's on!
So we find the Native American stairway (they were very good with iron railing and 2x4's) and headed to the top!
At the summit, we find this:
No markers. No displays. No nothing except for a boundary sign and an ecological fact on a tiny metal plaque. There was nothing here! There wasn't even a view! I mean they could have explained something right?!? I'm sure there had to be a reason for this place. Burial mound. Native American makeout point. Mini wiffle ball field. SOMETHING.
Nope. This is all there is. Nothing to see here. Move along, move along...
On our way out I was so disappointed I drove by that fork in the road another four times before finally heading left and finding the highway again.
