Survivor Season 37: David Vs. Goliath Week 3 Recap

For Survivor's 37th season, 20 brand-new castaways (18 remaining) will be sorted into two groups: The Davids, who have scratched and clawed their way through life to prove themselves, overcome adversity, and earned everything they've got. And then there's the Goliaths, who come from a place of privilege and have capitalized on their advantage to crush the competition, be it in business, education, or the professional wrestling ring.

But social politics can change drastically when you're stranded on an island in the game of Survivor; as Jeff says, every Goliath has an Achilles heel, and every David has a secret weapon.

Now, first of all, let me say that I am in no way an expert in any kind of way about this show. Actually I am only a few seasons in, but I'm starting to get the hang of it. This blog post is my way of helping me keep all things sorted out. So take it easy on me if I make mistakes.

David

Okay there are quite a few people that did not like the fact that Jessica was voted out last week. When #MasonDixon was asked about it, they both said they were approached by Gabby at the last minute. Bi was also thinking that is was Gabby's fault too so now she has a target on her back. The only problem was that they were worried if they could bring Christian in because he was so tight with her apparently.

Goliath

John says he is starting to work on his people skills more, and actually see Natalie as someone he can work with down the line. Jeremy was talking to Mike about all the side discussions going on. He expressed his concern to Kara, and then even had a tribal "mini-meeting" to tell everyone they were in a position of strength and it was too soon to be strategizing like that. He wanted everyone to just slow down a bit.

However, quite ironically, he had a side discussion about the Kara/Dan showmance and how that should be a target. He even told them about Dan's idol.

Immunity Challenge

It was another soaking wet, rain drenched challenge. The first part was between Alec and Bi, where they had to go through an obstacle course attached to a rope. It was about dead even when they reached the end of their parts. This signaled for the next three whose ropes were all intertwined to do the same thing. That was about even at the end as well.

The next part dealt with John and Elizabeth throwing a rope with a hoop on the end to hook a sled and pull it in with puzzle pieces on it. Goliath was a little bit ahead at this point but not much.

Then came the pyramid puzzle. With all the nerds I figured David would solve this first, and they did with Christian/Gabby stacking it up right first to win immunity. Goliath heads to tribal for the first time

Tribal Council

It was basically an argument between Jeremy and Natalie, who has been the target from day one. And at tribal it was an argument between the two as they fussed back and forth the whole time. Jeremy said she was the awful combination of being incompetent and over-confident. Natalie countered by saying she was an old woman and not even a threat.

In a shocker to me, Natalie, who everyone dislikes only got one vote. Jeremy got the other nine!

So that leaves us with (total votes received in parentheses):

David: Elizabeth, Carl, Nick, Davie*, Bi, Lyrsa (4), Gabby, Christian

Goliath: Alec, Alison, John, Dan*, Mike, Natalie (1), Kara, Natalia, Angelina

Voted out (in order): Pat (injury), Jessica, Jeremy

*Has a Hidden Immunity Idol.
