Friday and the Random 10

Well I know it's Friday and I know what i'm supposed to do but....my media player isn't cooperating just yet. I knew from last week it wasn't seeing all my songs so I had to go back in and delete/re-add my libraries. So now I'm waiting for the songs to show up...and waiting...and...

Okay, here we go. I think this thing is working correctly. Click the songs, play random and:

1) Asia/Orchard of Mines - from their Phoenix cd...this was basically my divorce CD so it brings back that time period when I was still working at Millennium Technology...bummer of a start

2) Jon Anderson/Speed Deep (Deep Forest) - this was actually a remix CD of Deseo...and it actually doesn't suck

3) Paul McCartney/Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey - always thought this was a strange song but the "hands across the water" part makes it worthwhile

4) Lady Gaga/SummerBoy - I told you I added some never stuff, you know, so I could attempt to be "hip"..this actually isn't so bad...

5) ABBA/Take a Chance on Me - guilty pleasure...yeah I like it...so what?

6) Rick Wakeman/The Gospel According to St Luke - like I said before, give RW a topic and he can do a solo album about it...

7) Emerson Lake & Palmer/Hoedown - classic!

8) Camel/A Nod and a Wink - anything that starts off with the sound of a steam train has got to be good...I just wonder why for years I've never heard of Camel? Maybe they're British?

9) Enigma/The Same Parents - nice! I think I might put on Camel and Enigma and listen to it all day...

10) AC/DC/For Those About to Rock - and what a way to finish!

And the Spinal Tap Commemorative Song for this week is Journey/Lay It Down...eh, not bad. You know, looking at all my stuff that shows up alot you can tell i love Progressive music, especially from the 70's. I just think it was a way more creative time period than the crap they play nowadays. Well anyway, play us out boys!

Friday and the Random 10: Blah

Well here we go again... It's been kind of a weird week, with me having to bum rides back and forth to work (yeah, my truck is still sick) and me feeling, well just kinda weird. I'm still trying to get that full time gig at The Mouse and the future just looks kinda hazy. But anywayz, it's Friday and i'm off so I can crank another one of these out.

1) Velvet Revolver/America Man - I guess I should actually listen to some of the music I download sometimes

2) YES/Don't Kill The Whale - this is the Tormato album (which should have been called simply Tor in my humble opinion) which was the first to actually NOT have a Roger Dean cover. Mistake. Here's an actual retro video where you can see RW playing away on keyboards:

3) Jon Anderson/Hurry Home (Song for the Pleiades) - from a JonJon 80's solo album that I actually like In The City of Angels. There's some decent songs here but this is where he started becoming disappointed with the Cali music scene, which led to a reunion of YES members and the forming of ABWH the following year.

4) Rick Wakeman/The Hanging Gardens of Babylon - all RW needed was an idea for a solo album and this time it was the 7 wonders of the ancient world...no really...

5) U2/When Love Came to Town - still dont get the hype

6) Lady GaGa/Marry the Night - my little attempt to be semi-contemporary...the music is neat by the lyrics are just the same over and over...is this all music is nowadays?

7) Prince/I Would Die 4 U - from Purple Rain..nuff said

8) Jon Anderson/Sound and Color - from his Toltec solo album...nice sounding but I expected something different along the lines of Angkor Wat...not even close..

9) AC/DC/Highway to Hell - classic classic classic (times infinity)

10) Journey/Sand Castles - now this is from a rare little soundtrack album they did for some Japanese movie or something with an orchestra...think along the lines of Good Morning Girl/Stay Awhile and this is what the whole album sounds like...and I love the hell out of it!

Wow, there was a whole lot of YES related stuff today. Sometimes even I want a little more variety. And the Spinal Tap Commemorative Song for this week is... YES/Then. Wow, so randomness had to get in one more final shot. Oh well, there's always next week...

Friday and the Random 10 + 10

Well lookie here! Yeah I was so busy working last week that I totally forgot about doing my Top 10. Some of ya'll were upset I know. Maybe this week I can dig a little deeper and roll out 20 songs to make up for it! Enough talk...on with the show!

1) Lady Gaga/Monster - wow, ummm, ok...the first new music I downloaded in awhile to sample and it shows up first...I just wanted to see what all the fuss was about

2) Styx/One Way Out - a re-make of some old song I dont know who from

3) Bob Seger/Roll Me Away - Bob gets me! This is my divorce CD unfortunately

4)  Camel/Rhayader - didnt I have this exact one a few weeks ago?

5) Rick Wakeman/A Castle of Dreams - RW in da house!

6) Van Halen/The Full Bug - old school with David Lee Roth

7) Enigma/Mea Culpa - classically smooth and sexy...here's the video

8) Led Zeppelin/Good Times Bad Times - oh yeah now we're finding some good stuff!

9) Kansas/Angels Have Fallen - "Save me for now, save me forever"

10) Camel/Tell Me - more smooth sounds...

11) Tommy Shaw/Dangerous Game - from one of his early solo albums

12) Alabama/Anytime - I've really got to start deleting some of this...

13) The Beatles/Eleanor Rigby - one of my most favorite Beatles songs

14) Kansas/Andi - once Walsh left them they just werent quite the same...nice song though

15) U2/Gone - I still dont see what all the fuss is about

16) YES/Dear Father - decent song by them that kind of bounced around during the early years and never really ended up on an album until some re-masters were done

17) Third Day/Innocent - getting into them more and more

18) YES(west)/The More We Live Let Go - weird time period for YES...the band was split into 2 versions (YESwest and ABWH) that all came together for the Union album (pic below)...unfortunately it ensured that ABWH II would never happen...sigh

19) ELO/Evil Woman - wow, some good classic stuff today!

20) Tommy Shaw - Ever Since The World Began...play us out Tommy!
