Survivor Season 37: David Vs. Goliath Week 4 Recap

For Survivor's 37th season, 20 brand-new castaways (17 remaining) will be sorted into two groups: The Davids, who have scratched and clawed their way through life to prove themselves, overcome adversity, and earned everything they've got. And then there's the Goliaths, who come from a place of privilege and have capitalized on their advantage to crush the competition, be it in business, education, or the professional wrestling ring. 

But social politics can change drastically when you're stranded on an island in the game of Survivor; as Jeff says, every Goliath has an Achilles heel, and every David has a secret weapon.

Now, first of all, let me say that I am in no way an expert in any kind of way about this show. Actually I am only a few seasons in, but I'm starting to get the hang of it. This blog post is my way of helping me keep all things sorted out. So take it easy on me if I make mistakes.

Before we even got started...Bri had to leave the game because of an injured knee. and of course all of David started crying...again.

There was barely any time to let that soak in before Jeff mixed things up!

This time though, a new tribe was created for a total of three. However poor Carl opened his up to find...nothing. He gets sent to Exile Island (I didn't even know that was a thing this season), and will take the place of whoever gets voted out at tribal later. Of course when he gets to the island, there is an advantage waiting. He gets an idol nullifier which will cancel out any idol played at tribal. #ThatsNew

Vuku

The new tribe here consists of three Goliaths and two Davids: Natalia, Kara, Alec, Davie, and Elizabeth. Kara and Elizabeth cliqued immediately, which got Natalie worried about suddenly being on the outside. She even had to confront Kara later on to make sure they were still tight.

Davie is the only one in this tribe with an idol.

Tiva

The new tribe here consists of three Goliaths and two Davids as well: John, Dan, Allison, and the cute nerdy couple Christian and Gabby stay together. Christian gets very personable to ingratiate himself with the new tribemates by starting the #Charmpocalypse. That leaves Gabby feeling so left out that he has to comfort her as, tell me if you've heard this before, she starts crying.

Dan is the only one with an idol in this tribe.

Jabeni

The new tribe here, like the other two consists of three Goliaths and two Davids: Natalie, Mike, Angelina, Lyrsa and Nick. Natalie started off by bossing everyone around of course. The new people in the tribe were like "is she like that all the time?". Nick saw right away that Natalie was the crack in the Goliaths. He also met up and formed another so called alliance with Mike.

Nick, listen to me. You have really got to stop giving alliances a name. #RockStars

Immunity Challenge

This whole challenge dealt with a caller while everyone else was blindfolded. The first part was pushing the caller on a cart while they gave directions to the pushers through an obstacle course. I was impressed with Gabby (ok, she's my new crush) as she got Tiva all the way through quickly and efficiently. Kara was next for Vuku, while Angelina brought up the rear very slowly for Jabeni.

After retrieving the ball at the end of the course, the next part was to use that ball on a table maze. The caller had to give directions to the last two blindfolded tribe mates. Vuku dropped their ball and had to start over, allowing Jabeni to pass them. Tiva stayed ahead the whole time and won immunity while the other two fought it out. Both tribes had their chances, but Jabeni was able to get it in the hole first, sending Vuku to tribal

Tribal Council

At this point it's down to two choices: the majority Goliath votes out a David (Elizabeth/Davie), or someone makes a move. Elizabeth took Davie out looking for an idol, and Davie totally ratted her out to the rest of the group. Elizabeth hit up Alec to possibly flip, saying she would vote Davie to get rid of the bigger threat. Natalia has kind of put a target on her back by being so bossy which has Alec conflicted. The other part to this is that if a Goliath is voted out, Carl would take their place giving David the majority.

Alec stopped and whispered in Elizabeth's ear which started a chain reaction of whispering. No one said anything to Davie. Natalia and Kara were stunned that something was not going quite right. Did Alec flip? Yes, yes he did.

Elizabeth got one vote, Davie got one vote, but Natalia got the other three to be sent home...pissed.

So that leaves us with (total votes received in parentheses):

Vuku: Elizabeth (1), Carl**, Davie*(1), Kara, Alec

Tiva: John, Dan, Allison, Christian, Gabby

Jabeni: Natalie, Mike, Angelina, Lyrsa, Nick
