Psych Season 1 Episode 14 Recap (Poker? I Barely Know Her)

Thanks to a childhood spent with a family of cops, Shawn Spencer possesses an incredible photographic memory and notices seemingly insignificant details. These traits allow him to spend his jobless days providing the police with mystery solving tips - but his knowledge soon makes him a suspect. In order to clear his name, the unlikely sleuth declares he has clairvoyant abilities and launches his own investigative agency, Psych.

Episode 14: Poker? I Barely Know Her

Flashback Scene: Young Shawn gets caught taking money from other police officers by beating them at poker.

The Case:  Henry’s old friend Bill Peterson refuses to call the police after his wayward son steals from him and then goes missing, which forces Henry to go find help in the last place he ever wanted to visit – the Psych office.

The missing son had been evicted from his apartment and the landlord was keeping all his things locked up. Shawn noticed attempts at breaking into the cage, so there must have been something in there that the kid needed. They found a business card for a lawn center which was out of place because there was no yard.

Staking out the garden center, they noticed a lot of fancy cars showing up which seemed really out of place. They followed one guy in but lost him in a maze of bushes. Shawn realized that the "RRLRLL" written on the back of the business card was directions through the maze. It led them to an underground, illegal poker game.

Gus Nickname: When Gus was playing online poker, he was waiting to see if the missing son would log on with the name his dad said he went by. He did and Shawn tried to catfish him saying that Gus's real name was Felicia Fancybottom.

They arranged a meeting and he showed up, only to be assaulted by a man he owes money too. They take him back to his dad's business so that he can make amends, but he just ends up looting the safe for more money.

They find him at a legit poker game in a casino, where Shawn plays poker in his place. When making it to the final round, Shawn finds out how the heavy has been cheating with the help of the dealer.

Side Story: Jules has been trying to get info on Lassie to throw him a surprise birthday party. She gets names from a little black book from his desk, which turns out to be people he has arrested. He has to go inside and start packing, because now all of them know where he lives.
