Episode 9: Forget Me Not
Flashback Scene: Shawn is on a school field trip at the zoo and covers for a girl that had thrown a ball at him that missed and got stuck in an ostrich's neck. The girl was his dad's captain's daughter.
The Case: When Henry’s former Captain, suffering from early on-set Alzheimer’s, knows he’s solved a crime but can’t remember it, he comes to Shawn for help, who must piece together not only Connors’ memories, but also the clues buried in them, to find the killer.
Pineapple Sighting:
More of a mention than a sighting |
A woman comes into the police department reporting a missing boyfriend. Shawn sees the missing poster on the pole by the cafe that the captain goes to every morning. He deduces that that's what the captain saw and connected it to a previous murder that was originally thought to be a mountain lion attack. When the papers the next morning shows the missing guy killed by a mountain lion, Shawn believes he really saw a murder and that the cases are related.
When visiting where the mountain lion was being kept, the vet noted that it was very malnourished. Shawn also noticed a red wound. While exploring the closed hiking trail looking for the scene of the "attack" they are accosted by a park ranger. While back at the station, they also notice the ranger is friends with the murder suspect and has a cage outside with a matching spot that would have wounded the mountain lion.
The original case involved a suspected affair between the victim and a local businessman. The second victim was her son, who was looking for his birth father. It turns out that it was his wife instead, who was the sister of the park ranger, that killed both of them with the help of her brother.
