Friday and the Random 10 (Housing Anxiety Edition)

One of the reasons I took a camping trip last week was to sort out things in my head about my apartment situation. Those close to me know that a new "management" company has come in and have been basically trying to force this white boy to move out. They have hit me with fake inspections with no documentation and imaginary pictures to "corporate". They finally offered me a six month probationary lease (after being in this complex for over 6+ years). I've decided to screw them over and move out instead...and that leads to all kinds of anxiety for me.

I have a partner in crime who will be my new roommate though, so I won't be doing it alone. However, and I can't state this enough, I FREAKING HATE MOVING.

Irony of ironies: As I typed up this blog post, I got yet another notice on my door about "failing to complete annual recertification" (that's a new one, I did do this way back in February). My lease is now terminated effective May 31st, 2016. Luckily that is the date I was going to tell them I will be out by so no worries there. But, see what I have been dealing with here???

Here's hoping music takes my mind off of it for awhile...

Exile Island gets a new look this week. Tired of the old picture. Chicago and Rick Wakeman got banned last week and I am including the album covers that got them shipped out. And as usual, the rules and whatnot are up there ↑ at the top near the home tab.

Play On!

1) Billy Joel/Easy Money (An Innocent Man) - Considering the problems I have had with Mr. William Joel before I am surprised this has a video on YouTube. Cool song though.

2) YES/Dangerous - Look Into the Light of What You're Searching For (Union) - This week's winner for song with the longest title. The Union album is the one where "YesWest" and ABWH merged to do an album together. It has divided many but I love it (even though it put an end to what would have been ABWH II). This song even had an extended "dance mix". So 90's.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3) Jimmy Buffet/California Promises (Boats Beaches Bars and Ballads) - This is apparently a remake by Jimmy because I cannot find any video of him actually singing it. I figured you wouldn't want to view some strangers' Cali vacation pics.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4) Dream Theater/Erotomania (Awake) - Okay Scott, I actually listened to the whole thing this time. Great musicians obviously, and the keyboards behind the guitars reminded me of 70's Kansas a bit (and did I hear some Bach in there?). Must be a popular instrumental because the only videoes I could find were people's crummy covers of it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5) The Buggles/Vermilion Sands (Adventures in Modern Recording) - Surprising that there was no video for this one either. However I felt the world needed one so I made one myself. I'm good like that sometimes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6) Xandria/Answer (Ravenheart) - I am still torn on this group. They seem to overdo it sometimes. No "normal" video for this one. Enjoy some anime.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7) Fantasia/The Nutcracker Suite (Soundtrack) - One of my personal favorite films. Enjoy the whole suite.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8) YES/Montreux's Theme (YesYears Disc 3) - This is from an early 90's box set (when they started becoming a thing) that included many, many unreleased songs and outtakes. This is a neat little instrumental that I had already made a video for. Oh, and banned next week.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9) Anathema/The Beloved (Eternity) - No video here either, other than the full album and I ain't going to make you pick out the one song.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10) Loverboy/Heaven in Your Eyes (Classics: Their Greatest Hits) - God I hated when everyone had to have a love ballad on their albums. Just kick ass and be yourself! I had no idea this was on the Top Gun soundtrack.

The STCS for this week goes to Tangerine Dream/Phaedra (The Virgin Years). Probably not Spinal Tap's cup of tea. As far as Exile Island goes, both Rick Wakeman and Chicago escape after only one week. I'm shocked. However, they are replaced by YES, which saddens me a bit. Hopefully next week will be a little more stress free.
