Survivor: Kaoh Rong Week 4 Recap

This season of Survivor is called Brains vs. Brawn vs. Beauty. Eighteen players (15 remaining) are separated into three tribes according the "talents" they use to succeed in life.

Now, first of all, let me say that I am in no way an expert in any kind of way about this show. Actually I am only a few seasons in, but I have seen the previous season in this format. This blog post is my way of helping me keep all things sorted out. So take it easy on me if I make mistakes.

Reward Challenge

There was not much in the way of things happening in camps this week as events went straight into the reward challenge. And boy did a lot happen here!

First off the challenge was in three parts: 1) crawl as a team under and over an obstacle course, including digging and going under a long log, 2) digging up three bags of balls that were buried in a circular area, and then 3) roll the balls up a platform skee-ball style into holes. All of this took place in hot, hot sand. Yeah. The reward was large/small set of kitchen supplies.

Brains was the first to make it through and dig up all three bags of balls. They finished the skee-ball part before the other two teams even found all their bags. And then Debbie fell out with heatstroke and medical had to be called in. They tended to her as the Brawn and Beauty dug and dug looking for their bags...for another HOUR.

Beauty found their third bag and started the skee-ball part. They were struggling with the last ball when Brawn finally found their last bag. It was a mad rush to get the balls rolling, and Brawn even got several in before Beauty mercifully won.

And then Caleb fell out. And then Cydney fell out. Medical was everywhere. Even the staff had to be called in to help. Debbie had recovered pretty well by this time which let them focus on the other two. Cydney started doing better, but Caleb looked like he lost consciousness a few times. That was it for him. The doctors said nope and the chopper was called in and he was airlifted out and removed from the game. Grueling.

I don't think anyone even cared about the reward after that.

Immunity Challenge

The next challenge for immunity was to: 1) race in pairs into the jungle and retrieve three rope puzzle pieces, 2) a different pair would swim out and dive down to retrieve three more rope puzzle pieces, and 3) use all six rope pieces to make them fit into a puzzle. First two to solve it wins immunity. Third goes to tribal.

It was basically even gathering the rope pieces with everyone pacing themselves after what happened at reward. Brains quickly solved the puzzle to win first immunity. Brawn struggled with mental exhaustion and could not do much with the puzzle as Beauty solved it after swapping out some members.

Brawn goes to tribal again and there was so much aggravation that Jeff asked if everyone was okay. They said no, we can do tribal right now if you want! They all agreed that Alecia was worthless and the one going home. Jeff said it was up to her, but she said no.

Tribal Council

No mystery at all at this one. Even Jeff said he knew she was done before voting. Alecia voted for Scot, but she got the others' votes and got sent home.

So that leaves us with (total tribal votes received in parentheses):

Brawn (To Tang) - Scot (1), Cydney, Jason*

Caleb was removed due to medical reasons (Week 4).
