Music Monday (Open Your Eyes, Side 2)

After covering the first side of this album here, it's time to move on to side two and finish this one up.

********************************************************************************

7) Wonderlove - Cheesy love song. That about sums it up.

********************************************************************************

8) From the Balcony - Just Jon singing with Steve playing. Nice and simple, and not too cheesy.

********************************************************************************

9) Loveshine - See this is where all these songs seem to blend all together into just one big cheeseball. One on an album is fine I suppose. This is just way too many for a Yes album.

********************************************************************************

10) Somehow, Someday - And the cheeseball grows bigger.

11) The Solution - Not cheesy, but it sounds like the songs on the first side which I guess is a slight improvement. I am not being sarcastic when I say that the best part of this song is when it's over.

The very first time listening to this album I was struck by the silence after this song that seemed to keep stretching out as I was waiting for the next CD to start. And then the sounds started. There was a hidden ambient track at the end with vocal snippets from the entire album. And honestly, it's the best part of the whole thing and I am so glad someone put it on YouTube:

A limited edition surround sound version was also produced. This came with a cardboard slip case and blue CD, not seen on the standard release. Although not true 5.1 surround, the aim was to produce a wider sound field from just two speakers and in that respect it does have some limited success. I bought this limited edition just for the ambient track at the end and guess what? It was edited out! It wasn't even on the damned thing! I was so pissed. I just threw my money away.

Open Your Eyes reached No. 151 in the US during a chart stay of one week. One whole week. This album is crap.
