Me and my journey through life, from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows and all wacky, funny, deep, depressing and interesting points in between. My interests are varied from one end of the spectrum to another. Basically, the disappointing side of mediocre.

This Day in Music History:Yes/Union (04/30)
Union is the thirteenth studio album by British progressive rock band Yes, released on this date in 1991. It was so called because it brought together the previous Yes album's lineup (Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Trevor Rabin, Alan White, Tony Kaye) and the then ex-Yes members group ABWH.

This Day in Music History: Yes/Big Generator (09/17)
On this date in 1987, Yes finally (after over four years!) released a follow up to the massively popular 90125. Their 12th studio album was called Big Generator.

Friday and the Random 10 (Year of Hell Edition)
So if there was any good news at all coming out of 2016 it was that three of my favorite bands made it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Not that it matters much anyway, the place is a sham, but to be inducted this year are YES(!), Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), and Journey.
This week's countdown, and the first for 2017, will be 16 random songs from these bands and no one else. It's the only way to send out the Year of Hell*.

Let music take the pain of 2016 away!

Music Monday (Big Generator, Side 2)
After bashing this album a lot in my last post when I covered Side 1, I realized that I actually like this album. I mean even when things are bad, Yes is still better and more talented than 99% of the people out there. Also, it was the 80's and the music is still fun and full of energy.

Music Monday (Big Generator, Side 1)
So Yes had just hit it big with a massively popular album, 90125, and their first #1 single "Owner of a Lonely Heart", and what do they do? They bicker over creative differences and the direction of the band, miss a big window of opportunity in the 80's, and take over four years to put out their next album. Not so epic.
What they do turn out is a massively over-produced album called Big Generator (which I originally covered here).
