Survivor: Cambodia/Second Chance Week 3 Recap

This season of Survivor is called Second Chance and it's basically that. Twenty players (18 remaining) from the previous thirty seasons of Survivor were voted on and allowed a second chance at winning.

Now, first of all, let me say that I am in no way an expert in any kind of way about this show. Actually I am only three seasons in and I know only nine of the current participants. This blog post is my way of helping me keep all things sorted out. So take it easy on me if I make mistakes.

#DropYourBuffs

The first thing to happen this week once they all got back together with Probst was the dropping of the buffs! It didn't just shake things up, it added a third tribe.

Kelley and Terry stay put here, but coming over from Bayon is Joe, Kass, Keith, and Ciera.

Monica, Jeremy, Kimmi, and Stephen stay on Bayon. New to the tribe from Ta Keo is Spencer and Kelly W.

After almost getting voted out last week, Spencer gets a new life in a new group. The "veteran" members of the tribe immediately went into idol hunting mode with Jeremy finding the clue. And as before with Kelley, it is located somewhere in the Immunity Challenge.

The new tribe is now Angkor. It has my boy Woo, Jeff, Abi-Maria, and Peih-Gee from Ta Keo. Outnumbered and from Bayon are Tasha and Andrew. This tribe had to start their camp from scratch, building shelter and having no food.

Immunity Challenge

The challenge this week was just for immunity, with the third place tribe going to tribal council. Each tribe had to push a cart while someone retrieved a key off a hook with a pole. That key was used to unlock a crate of puzzle pieces. This had to be done three times. After that, the cart and crates had to be disassembled and passed through a maze and reassembled on the other side. Once through more obstacles, the crates could be opened one at a time to retrieve the puzzle pieces. Last one to complete the puzzle would go to tribal.

Ta Keo pretty much took an early lead and held on to it, all the way to completing the puzzle. Bayon was a close second, but once they got to that third crate, Jeremy had the chance to snag an immunity idol.

He pushed past Kimmi, snagged the idol and dropped to his knees to stick it in his pocket. Then he jumped right back up like he was waiting to use the key on the crate. Smooth.

Bayon and Angkor were neck and neck at the end but Jeremy/Spencer were able to finish the puzzle before Peih-Gee/Tasha. Angkor goes to tribal.

Jeff was caught mouthing something to someone on the other tribe and Tasha made a show of calling him out as a rat. Jeff put a bullseye on himself.

Tribal Council

So you would think it would be an easy vote and Jeff would be out, but things started to get "weird". Abi and Peih-Gee got into it again which set them wanting to vote each other out. Everybody else thought they had an agreement going one way, then realized they couldn't trust either of the women because they wouldn't go along with the Jeff vote. Was Jeff now safe from his earlier fiasco? The votes said yes. Abi-Maria got two votes, but Peih-Gee got the other four and was sent packing.

So that leaves us with (restructured for new tribes with total tribal votes received in parentheses):

Ta Keo: Joe, Kass, Keith, Ciera, Terry and Kelley*

Bayon: Spencer (4), Jeremy*, Stephen, Kimmi, Kelly W, Monica

Angkor: Woo, Jeff, Abi-Maria (6), Tasha, Andrew

*Has an Immunity Idol

Voted out (in order): Vytas, Shirin, Peih-Gee
