Friday and the Random 10 (When dreams are fading...)

Yeah, I know the blog posts have kind of slowed down a bit. Remember back when I was blogging like all the time? Yeah, that was when I was unemployed. Work takes up so much time now. Heck, I even forgot it was Friday there for a while. But fear not I won't let you  all down!

Looking back at last week, I see that Yes and the Alan Parsons Project got banned. Ouch, two in one week. As usual, the rules and whatnot are over there → to the right. So, with as much fake enthusiasm as I can muster, let's get this party started!

1) Magma/K. A. III - This is one of those "weird" prog bands that I have read about in forums and such. What do you mean by weird you say? For one of their albums about life on another planet, they invented a language to sing it in. So you basically have to guess the meanings of the songs. Yeah, exactly.

2) Enigma/Northern Lights - Awesome. It would be cool if this turned out to be an all prog countdown.

3) Chicago/Rescue You - Well so much for that. I was going to say at least this was jazzy, but it's from Chicago XVI. That's the start of the love song obsessed Chicago and basically the beginning of the end for them. I'll give them the album cover though.

4) Janet Jackson/The Pleasure Principle - Hey, I branch out from time to time (usually 10 years after the fact).

5) Chicago/Brand New Love Affair, Pts. 1 & 2 - Because the road to suckitude needs multiple parts. Banned.

6) Absolute Elsewhere/The Gold of the Gods - Another space age prog project from the 70's. This is actually decent. I only tried it because Bill Bruford of Yes/ABWH drums on it.

7) The Moody Blues/It May be a Fire - Mellow, of course.

8) Trans-Siberian Orchestra/I Will Keep Your Secrets - From their non-Christmas CD Beethoven's Last Night.

WHEN DREAMS ARE FADING
AND FRIENDS ARE DISTANT AND FEW

KNOW AT THAT MOMENT I'LL BE THERE WITH YOU

9) Guns N' Roses/Patience - Remember when these guys ruled the world?

10) Camel/Running from Paradise - I haven't heard anything from these guys that I don't like even though I've never just sat and listened to their stuff.

Well that's it for this week. No one got Tarkus'd, but Chicago gives us hope for next week by getting banned. The STCS this time around is Asia/Voice of America. Great song. I'll let them play us out. It's finally in cool central Florida! Roll Tide!
