Survivor Season 37: David Vs. Goliath Week 6 Recap

For Survivor's 37th season, 20 brand-new castaways (14 remaining) will be sorted into two groups: The Davids, who have scratched and clawed their way through life to prove themselves, overcome adversity, and earned everything they've got. And then there's the Goliaths, who come from a place of privilege and have capitalized on their advantage to crush the competition, be it in business, education, or the professional wrestling ring. 

But social politics can change drastically when you're stranded on an island in the game of Survivor; as Jeff says, every Goliath has an Achilles heel, and every David has a secret weapon.

Now, first of all, let me say that I am in no way an expert in any kind of way about this show. Actually I am only a few seasons in, but I'm starting to get the hang of it. This blog post is my way of helping me keep all things sorted out. So take it easy on me if I make mistakes.

Vuku

The new tribe here consists of two Goliaths and three Davids: Kara, Alec, Davie, Elizabeth and Karl joining them from Exile Island.

Elizabeth became the issue this time because of her back issues. She went about splitting bamboo with Kara to make the bed more even. However Davie and Karl became irritated with her saying it was too late in the day to start that project. She fired back saying you guys plan on waiting to day 39? Kara sat back enjoying the rift between the Davids.

Davie is the only one in this tribe with an idol.

Tiva

The new tribe here consists of three Goliaths and two Davids as well: John, Dan, Allison, and the cute nerdy couple Christian and Gabby stay together.

Christian took an opportunity to try some spear fishing. He described all the aspects of the process in scientific terms, but was just too plain funny and awkward at the attempt. No fish were harmed in his underwater excursion.

Allison also got some screen time talking with Gabby about how the camp is blending and how the girls feel alienated from the guys. She sees Dan as the biggest threat, and she knows he has an idol.

Jabeni

The new tribe here, like the other two has an even mix consisting of two Goliaths and two Davids: Mike, Angelina, Lyrsa and Nick.

Back at camp after tribal the first thing they started joking on was the jacket thing with Angelina as Natalie left. It was all funny but Lyrsa was like she valued a jacket more than her and she didn't like that at all. Also Nick and Mike now viewed Angelina as a flip risk.

They said for Natalie going home was bittersweet: she was bitter and for the tribe it was sweet.

Reward Challenge

Reward this time was some veggie kabobs. I mean, no meat?!? Anway...

The challenge was for one person to be attached to a rope with the other end connected to a heavy bag of coconuts. After climbing over an obstacle, the other three tribe mates would elevate the bag, giving enough slack for the runner to secure four rings.

Jabeni brought up the rear as Lyrsa was slow getting over the ladder, then their rope got stuck on the top. Gabby was killing it (go girl!) for Tiva, as well as Alec for Vuku.

Vuku began tossing rings first, but quickly fell back. Tiva got all four of their rings first to win reward. Jabeni was second as Vuku just couldn't get rings to fall fast enough after having a big lead.

Immunity Challenge

The first part was to go through obstacles to retrieve a huge stone saucer and return to the start. They would then fill that saucer with as much water as they could hold, to go back through the obstacles again and dump the water into a well to get the puzzle pieces to drop.

Tiva got it first time through and began working on their circular puzzle that fits inside the saucer. Vuku and Jabeni spilled too much water on the first trip and did not drop the puzzle pieces. They had to go back for more.

Vuku had enough the second time and started on their puzzle as Tiva finished theirs to win immunity. Jabeni was too gassed to even finish the third attempt. They dropped their saucer and didn't have anything left. They stood there as Vuku solved the puzzle to get immunity.

Jabeni goes to tribal again.

Tribal Council

The camp was split between David and Goliath. Angelina was hitting up Lyrsa but said she's sticking with Nick so now she wants Lyrsa out. Angelina hit up Nick as Lyrsa went after Mike. However Mike and Nick have an unknown alliance (I'm not gonna mention it by name) so it's really between Lyrsa or Angelina, with thoughts of the upcoming merge in their heads.

Angelina got one vote. Lyrsa got the other three to be sent home. She said the part that sucks for her is that she has to sit next to Natalie at the reunion, and now has to go see her at the Ponderosa. Classic.

So that leaves us with (total votes received in parentheses):

Tiva: John, Dan*, Allison, Christian, Gabby

Jabeni: Mike, Angelina (1), Nick
