Survivor Season 37: David Vs. Goliath Week 2 Recap

For Survivor's 37th season, 20 brand-new castaways (19 remaining) will be sorted into two groups: The Davids, who have scratched and clawed their way through life to prove themselves, overcome adversity, and earned everything they've got. And then there's the Goliaths, who come from a place of privilege and have capitalized on their advantage to crush the competition, be it in business, education, or the professional wrestling ring. 

But social politics can change drastically when you're stranded on an island in the game of Survivor; as Jeff says, every Goliath has an Achilles heel, and every David has a secret weapon.

Now, first of all, let me say that I am in no way an expert in any kind of way about this show. Actually I am only a few seasons in, but I'm starting to get the hang of it. This blog post is my way of helping me keep all things sorted out. So take it easy on me if I make mistakes.

David

The alliances are starting to form up a little more. Nick needed to save face a little bit after getting a reprieve from the Pat injury. He teamed up with Christian and planned to take out one of the girls. They also came up with an awful alliance name. #MasonDixon

After catching the octopus last week, Davie sees himself as the provider of the group. However he says he definitely keep his eyes open when he's out scavenging. He noticed a branch that looked funny and then had a string on it. He followed it around the branch and pulled out an immunity idol.

Goliath

Everyone seems to be splitting into cliques right now. As the social game progresses, Natalie seems to be getting left behind. I guess she thinks being bossy is being sociable. When she found out her name was being thrown around she called everyone babies and amateurs. Yeah, I'm sure that helped.

Natalia and Kara know about Dan's idol, and with Angelina they think they are each in control because they each have a guy paired up with them. They may be right.

Jeremy was hanging around with Mike and asked him to be lookout as he looked around. He looked in Dan's jacket and found his idol. So now at least half the tribe knows about it.

Immunity Challenge

The first part of the challenge was between Alec and Bi, where they had to climb up a ladder as they built it, pulling out a lower rung to be the next higher one. Alec made it to the top quickly and knocked the key down while Bi struggled.

Goliath then got that key and unlocked their raft. They paddled out and retrieved all their puzzle pieces, and were heading back before David even got their key down.

They caught back up, but Goliath just had too much time to plan out their puzzle and finished way ahead to win immunity. David goes to Tribal.

Tribal Council

The talk at camp started out focusing on Lyrsa. For some reason she was considered the weakest of the group. She was having none of that. She always had Elizabeth on her side, and then she pulled in Gabby who had felt a little paranoid with the other girls. They then brought in Christian and tried to turn the focus onto Jessica, but was it too little, too late?

The votes came out pretty even for both and then Lyrsa got a third, and then a fourth. When Jessica got her third vote, the smirk dropped from her face. Then she got a fourth vote to tie things up. Then she got the last vote to be sent home (too bad cuz she was hot). Jessica never saw that coming. #Blindside

So that leaves us with (total votes received in parentheses):

David: Elizabeth, Carl, Nick, Davie*, Bi, Lyrsa (4), Gabby, Christian

Goliath: Jeremy, Alec, Alison, John, Dan*, Mike, Natalie, Kara, Natalia, Angelina
