Psych: Season 1 Episode 4 Recap (Woman Seeking Dead Husband - Smokers Okay, No Pets)

Thanks to a childhood spent with a family of cops, Shawn Spencer possesses an incredible photographic memory and notices seemingly insignificant details. These traits allow him to spend his jobless days providing the police with mystery solving tips - but his knowledge soon makes him a suspect. In order to clear his name, the unlikely sleuth declares he has clairvoyant abilities and launches his own investigative agency, Psych.

Episode 3: Woman Seeking Dead Husband - Smokers Okay, No Pets

Flashback Scene: Shawn's dad has him on an overnight "stakeout" to see who is stealing his newspaper.

The Case: Bank robbers are being paroled and they think their dead partner's wife might be in jeopardy.

The guys interrupt a potential meeting with the wife, and Gus seems to make a connection with her. She later shows up at their office as their first real customer, wanting Shawn to communicate with her dead husband. He was the one that was supposed to bury the money, but died in a car wreck on the way.

Gus walked in on Shawn doing a fake seance just to get information from the ex-wife and family members. One remarked about getting a phone call from near where a cousin lived, then all was broken up by someone shattering the front window.

Looking at the case file, Shawn found the name of the cousin and that he works all alone at a small cemetery. Investigating the cemetery, they actually come across the third bank robber, quite alive. He tells them he lost the money, and has been looking for it ever since.

Later they follow the bank robbers to their hotel and end up being captured by them. The robbers reveal that the ex-wife was actually the brains of the operation. They all went back to the cemetery, where the wife was waiting for everyone with a gun. Lassie and Jules bust in moments later and arrest everyone.

The money was never found. Episode ends with Shawn and Gus on a trail with shovels looking for the lost treasure.
