Sometimes, there are some songs that get lost on albums (or are left off the album altogether) that are truly great. Most of the time it isn't even recognized until years later. So this is a spot where I would like to put those songs in the spotlight for everyone to hear, and hopefully appreciate like I do.
Now here is a pair of songs from ELO's album Time, a concept album about a man out of time, from the 80's but lost in the future of 2095. They were included as bonus tracks from a 2001 re-issue, but were originally the b-sides for some of the singles for this album. That is where I first heard them and think of them as a pair.
"Julie Don't Live Here Anymore" was the b-side to the single "Twilight". It's a sad song about going to where his girlfriend used to live, finding everything so different and changed.
The next song is "When Time Stood Still", the b-side to "Hold On Tight". This one is just haunting.
