Music Monday (Magnification, Side 2)

I am trying to get back into the groove after a busy holiday week. Time to dive right back into the Yes catalog and finish up the wonderful Magnification album (the first side can be found here).

6) We Agree - Basically, about the war in Bosnia. Seeing through the eyes of a child indeed.

7) Soft As A Dove - Wimpy song. I mean SH on guitar is always great, but this sounded way too much like "From the Balcony" from Open Your Eyes.

8) Dreamtime - To me, the most powerful song on the whole album. It also hearkens back to the ABWH days and whole concept of the Aboriginal dreamtime. Awesome song and ending which leads right into...

9) In the Presence Of - Jon pretty much explains it in this live performance from the Yes Symphonic DVD. What would a Yes CD be without a song with multiple sections? This one is composed of i) Deeper ii) Death of Ego iii) True Beginner iv) Turn Around and Remember. Great song though.

10) Time is Time - Remember when I mentioned before about them closing out albums with a short little song at the end? Well here we go again. I recall something about this being a tribute to George Harrison after he had passed away but I'm not too sure if that is true or not. It is a nice little "goodbye" though.

Magnification reached No. 71 in the UK and No. 186 in the US during a chart stay of 1 whole week. It's a shame though. This is really a great album.
